tooquicktostop
I have a screamer pipe set up on my car, they are very loud on boost it has to be said and they can make some interesting marks on the floor of a rolling road They dont add any power over a pipe that just runs into the exhaust I would not have thought ? lockys96
could be done, but your better off fitting one of those gismo things attached to the gear change, ttttsssscccchhhhhhhhhhh oh i forgot that was the dump valve one
Nic
They dont add any power over a pipe that just runs into the exhaust I would not have thought ? Correct they don't add power, just a lot of noise, too much noise really for the street as it can attract a lot of unwanted attention from the law if you're not careful
jacko
ive got one on my starlet and i love it, only a little turbo but it sounds offensive when it comes on boost. That wasnt from an external wastegate, so it always leaked exhaust gasses, but i got used to that. If i go single on my Supra then i'll definately be letting it scream! dangerous brain
Interestingly enough my car is really drony inside right up until the waste gate opens and sends the exhaust gas out the screamer pipe outside, then it all goes quiet inside. Different matter outside though. Very quiet externally right up until the waste gate open then it sounds like a damn jet engine going past. To be fair the federally types might be attracted more by the wanton speeding the vehicle is doing on boost more than any noise its making as it does it. lockys96
Short answer - no i had one on my stock glanza turbo, it was rewelded into the downpipe for sva at the time. although i take it the housing is different. believe its night pager http://night-pager.com/parts/engineroom/page_scream.html Edited May 21, 2008 by lockys96 (see edit history)
Kopite
Too right i want mine to scream too, can you fit an external waste gate to the stock turbos, I know bugger all about turbos Dale Bowman had a set of hybrids which had an external wastegate sort of set up, can't remember who did them originally but he sold them when he went single. No idea what happened to them or why they were done like that in the first place...
edge
I remember a link from on here to the supraforums i believe of a guy who made a custom manifold for the stock TT system which would allow an external waste gate. Maybe a search will bring it up but alot of hassle imo.
Jim_1979
Can't you weld the wastegates shut and put one onto the manifold?
