DaveSupTT
In the near future I am planning on taking the engine out of my supra. I am going to be getting an engine stand but I could do with finding out how much the engine weights so I can get the correct stand. Even better, if someone can reccommend one that would be helpful. Im after something thats not too expensive, and ideally will be on wheels so I can move the engine around once on the stand. Cheers guys. JustGav
One thing to bear in mind.. The supra is a straight 6 engine, and is fairly long, the cheaper stands just don't have the length in the stabilizing bar so end up being very unstable. DaveSupTT
Ok cheers guys. After reading JustGav's point about the engine being fairly long therefore maybe causing a few issues when coming to being stable, has anyone actually used one and can reccomend any in particular. It would be really helpful. Cheers.
and1c
Ok cheers guys. It would be really helpful. Cheers. Ive got 2 different engine stands. One of them is a dual leg one made by Valley and is allegedly able to carry 650KG. This is a complete load of BS!! It bent like hell with an M3 engine on which is very similiar to supra in size and weight (and build) Then I got another one from MC mart which is here: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ces-500a-engine-stand It holds the weight without bowing but it is VERY unstable if you start rolling it around! I would recommend this one if you plan on moving it around a lot http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/ces-750a-engine-stand but they are a PITA to get long straight 6 motors on using a normal engine crane! Reason being is the square base doesnt fit in the cranes V so its a bit risky (mine is anyway) with block and tackle its easy
