Benjy
I've currently got a HKS HiPower cat back exhaust on my Supe. In the quest to make my N/A quick(er), I'm thinking of a de-cat, so naturally I thought I'd ask your guys opinions. Firstly - How many cats have I got? (Haven't had the opportunity to get it on a lift at work as there's a dirty great speed bump in front of the workshop door!) Secondly - Do I go down the High Flow cat route, or just a full de-cat? Thirdly - Where's the best place to find the replacement pipes, as tbh, I don't trust fleabay! Any help will be greatfully received!
Havard
Sorry Ben! I put a second de cat on my car a few months back and although it sounds a bit throatier, it doesn't make any noticeable difference in performance!! H.
Benjy
tbh, it does feel a little restricted. I had some AFR issues (10.6:1 rather than 14.7) due to a stupid power boost valve. I've now fitted a stock FPR and the car goes like absolute stink compared to when I got it. Just want as much power from my N/A as poss! Not only that, I like being noisey!! Clinton
I got my SZ-R decated (2nd cat) last x-mas, definately does make it a lot louder and i had a silencer box put on it2! in terms of performance you aint really gona feel anything, but i suppose it will prob gain a few extra horses! i got mine done at powerflow for about 140 quid so not bad price! Benjy
has anyone gone down the route of high flow cats?
miko_supra
The only real gain your going to get from taking the cats out as said is increasing the noise. So replacing the cats with performance cats is just going to cost you money and thats all really
Sparky
I decated my sz-r about 3 months ago and it made it bloody loud, now some of my neighbours are commenting on it lol It feels slightly more responsive but ive seen no power gains so far! (Not that i ever will lol)
