Apart from paedo-dad (not yet found guilty) it looks likely that this whole sorry mess came about because they thought they could get some 'maddie-money' from it. Up until that point who can really say that she'd had a bad life? Is it because she lives on a grotty estate? Is it because her mum's a bit 'casual' when it comes to men? Is it because it's easy to make assumptions when one lives a nice life with a good job and some cash to throw around? I feel sorry for the kid but I'm not about to go making assumptions about the life she's had based on what little we really know.

Do you honestly believe that she has had a life of sweetness and light? She has been brought up in a totally dysfunctional environment. The fact that the mother has been impregnated by 5 different partners does not bode well for a happy family existence eh? And then, to top it off, she has been abducted - albeit possibly aided by the Mother. Now, please don't tell me that you still think she might have had a lovely life because that's just nonsense. ozz
Its obvious from the thread title what the contents are so why read if offended? It doesn't hurt her if people make light of the situation - people complain about the PC nature of this country then get upset about humour. Its very rare you will find a joke that doesn't offend someone. Often humour is the best way for people to make sense and deal with a situation. If you think to long about what she could have gone through and the millions of other terrible things that happen we would be in a constant state of depression. I was talking to a motorway police officer once who was telling us about some of the accidents he attends. He was often first on the scene, when I asked him how he dealt with that he said he joked about it - like when he turned up at an RTA where someone had gone through a fence and a rail had pierced his chest killing him - the office joked 'he had stake for lunch then'. I'm sure the man's family would be destraught to hear that but he admitted if he didn't make light of it he wouldn't sleep at night.

It isn't the original post that caused offence, it was a later one aimed at the little girl - not the mother.

That's exactly the kind of sneering, look at the scumbags perception of them that much of the media has been pandering too. It's based on how we perceive 'people like that' from the comfort of our cosy lives. We won't know what kind of life she's had unless it comes out after the trial(s).
