I've just noticed that my front passenger dipped beam bulb has died on my j-spec tt :( I did a quick search on here and found that you cant just nip down halfords and buy a like for like replacement :( Anyone know where i can get dipped beam bulbs to fit the j-spec?? And do you have easy access to the light units to change the bulbs?

Never had to change my main beam bulbs, but it can't be too difficult. It is more than likely that Halfrauds or your local motor factors will have the bulb you need, but best to take it in with you to make sure you can have a good look for it.

HTH, also, I think you may of just beaten the record for the most number of questions not solvable by a search in one day!! LMAO!

have you tried disconnecting and then reseating the bulb, i thought mine had gone but turned out to be a dirty connection. But as the MOT was approaching and i didnt no that it was only a dirty connection i bought a new set of phillips blue vision (i think thats what theyare called) from Envy which are supposed to be a straight swap. They havent arrived yet but i wont be needing them now so if u want you can purchase them off me ;)

yeah - jusy pop the bonnet and look at the back of the headlight and you can just unclip the bulb which is in some type of holder (sorry for not so techy terms) mine was just a bit dirty. cleaned the connections replugged it in and lights now working perfectly. The bulbs are still available if you want ;)

Mine was like that as well, just wiggled it a bout and it worked!!

Also I think the dipped beam is 9006 (if that's what you want) and the main is 9005.

The j-spec direct fits should be 9006j and 9005j but I think they're more tricky to get hold of, only difference is the lug on one side anyway it just cuts off with some wire cutters (apparently).

For J-Specs you need 9005's for both dipped and main beam. For the dips to fit you just need to file down or snip the two little plastic locator tabs in the connector on the bulb itself. Took a couple of minutes if that to do and they fitted fine afterwards on mine.

Philips Blue vision bulbs are also good. http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/ do 10% off if you order two pairs of lights and free philips blue vision fog lights on all orders.

found the headlight holders today, is a total piece of pish to get the bulbs out by the looks of it. Anyway, i just twisted the suspect holder with the lights on and behold the light came back on!!Then after a 30 mile journey from work, i switched off then switched the lights back on to find the light had gone off again :( Got out, twisted the holder in and out and back in again and its back on again!! Bet it isnt working 2moro morning...

Deffo a job for the weekend if it goes again - at least the bulb is good
