Ewen
We have been to NY, just the once though. We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria. Beautiful but older building and expensive unless you can find a special deal. We loved it, and I'd recommend it for the romantic aspect alone. Fairly central too. JustGav
I lived there for 18 months, absolutely loved the place but then I had my own apartment. Contary to common belief NYC does actually sleep as we discovered on one rather hectic night out. Go visit flashdance
Tones
And flashdance is...??? Ive always wanted to go to new york, i love travelling but for some reason dont get to go as much as i would like, cant wait to go next month!
R Black
Last time i was there i stayed at the Amsterdam Court Hotel, which was just what we needed clean & comfy, rooms are small but space is a premium in NYC, its literally just round the corner from Times Sq which is cool, but if you have a good budget you will find better with bigger rooms. JustGav
I've stayed here, but that was on business and it wasn't cheap http://www.thetimeny.com/ But then I also stayed here http://chelseainn.com/ , and it was literally just a room and a shared bathroom and being honest had enough for me, ie a bed/telly. I'm not a hotel person, spent too much time in them. I view them as a bed for the night, nothing more.

JustGav
first one looks gorgeous, for 4 nights king bedroom for the two of us its $1300 so that isnt too bad really, about 500 pounds i think Well, I had a business suite, and it was of a good high standard, and to be honest, the US do know what customer service and satisfaction is. Nice hotel, and right in the middle of NYC, so I can recommend it.

Bobbeh
I've stayed in the Westin, which was really nice, and the Sheraton and Towers on 7th Avenue which was ok. I've heard other people comment about the Waldorf Astoria being nice also.

Ewen
Other than the Empire State, The Gugenheim Art Museum, the Natural History Museum, Grand Central Station, China Town, Little Italy, Wall Street, Ground Zero and Central Park, The Intrepid Sea Air and (something else I forgot) Museum was my highlight when we stayed there. Based on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. Edit..scrap that, the Intrepid is closed for renovation 'till later in the year:(
Bobbeh
How did u find the nightlife there? i heard its hard to find a nightclub, not like the uk and ireland really If you do a bit of research before you go you'll find loads of places. The meatpacking district is full of bars and clubs of all sorts.. many of the dance clubs like Crobar, Pacha etc are located on the west of manhatten near the unattractive industrial areas.. you'd best of seeing where you fancy going then getting taxis to the locations. Plus Greenwich village has lots of places to see also.
