going bpu++, need some help

Hello all,

I have an mkiv tt jdm which is now bpu. I have 1.2bar of boost, 3" downpipe and exhaust, fuelcut remover, speedlimit remover and euro turbos which should handle a bit more boost. Now I was thinking to go one small step further with my mods. What is the maximum boost the stock supra map sensor can handle? I once tried to boost up to 1.4bar but my car started "jerking" and went lean. First I thought this gave so much power that my stock fuelsystem couldn't handle it but then I figured it was the standard map sensor which just couldn't cope with the increased boost?

What I want to do is install euro 550cc injectors and turn up the boost a bit - say 1.3-1.4bar. Unless you guys think my euroturbos can't hande that much. What do I have to do to achieve this? What parts I need? Do I have to change my map sensor and is it possible without a whole new engine management system?

Lots of questions but I'd be very thankful if you guys could give me some answers. Thanks!

it wont be your map sensor, at 1.2 bar your over the limit anyway,and it wont jerk if its out of range on your map sensor, probably hit fuel cut which is why you went lean?

an emanage will do for tuning your fuel,fuelcut and they do a 3bar pressure sensor for that unit.probably cheapest route to go....IMO

Thanks for the info guys. I have a greddy fuel cut controller so that should be taken care of.

Buy yourself a FMIC 3 INCH or above , you need a fuel computer for 550cc injectors, you also need to change your cams . running 1.2 bar will produce more power then running 1.4 bar without cams.

Maybe I will just stay with 1.2bar for now. I guess I can get some extra power if I get an intercooler and get my afr sorted? So basically what I need is a fuel computer and a better intercooler, right? Would an Apex S-AFC II do the trick?

Yes any of the apexi fuel computers will do the job , else you can go down the map ecu , used in the US . I have used them in the past and they are far better the the apexi unit IMO. You can pic a used unit for about £150, and apexi for about £175. The MAP ECU 2 has ignition control aswell, this will set you back about £400.

hope this helps

i have all 3 in stock , dont bother about going standalone , on bpu++ its a waste of money for the amount of power you get.

Do you stock E-Manages as well or did you avoid recommending those because you don't sell them, even though a nice E-Manage Blue would be ideal and cost half that of the MAP ECU ;)

Hi Ian ,

I only stock what i know, yes an emanage will do the same job but i prefer the map ecu as i have only used this piggy back before.
