Pot
Medical condition or not, there has to be a point where you make sure some form of action's taken before you get to 50 stone!...
hiten55
yeah i saw that. felt sorry for them. lifes gotta be pretty bad for you to start binge eating like that. still, good on her for fighting to help others, and mucho respect to her family for carrying on her work
far
...how is it a medical condition though? Surely its a psychological addiction to food that has snowballed
Charlotte
It must be a pretty grim existence.
MrRalphMan
Watched some of it, she was saying that she hardly ate and she had to force herself to eat. Now I know she had it rough, 40St and then a drunk driver hit her and crushed her leg making her bed bound... But still... To hit those sort of weights without stopping... Still not sure to feel sorry or not.

Pot
My old man had his leg smashed up in a bike accident, and it's fair to say he got up to a big weight (Not on her scales, but still he was a huge guy)... But he went on a diet and slimmed right down, so much so that myself and my sister could fit in each of the legs in his old trousers...

Tricky-Ricky
Medical condition or not, there has to be a point where you make sure some form of action's taken before you get to 50 stone!... I agree, but i guess its akin to drug addiction, but then I'm afraid i don't have much sympathy for that either, your life and destiny is in your own hands, unless you are struck with mental illness, you can always make changes. _Lynz_
I think that there are some people who's genetics are that way and no matter what they will always be "big". But 50 stone is ridiculous. There has to come a point where you say to yourself "Hold on a minute, I can't walk properly, need to lay off the Maccy's". I think it's sad that she died and a shame for her family, but she should've been trying to lose weight leading up to the operation and not just relying on that to get her weight down. In my oppinion of course.

Darren-K
On a quick note,. she was actualy 64 stone, ( almost 900 pounds in weight) I think she was selfish and i have no pity at all for her,she was after all warned 10 years earlier "if you do not stop eating the way you do you will die" so in my eyes she commited suicide,... i do feel sorry for her kids altho her kids will have a better life now without her. colsoop
It is quite sad and in some cases i see it as addiction / mental health issues. It would have been just as grim an existence when she lost the weight, imagine the amount of excess skin she would have had. I thought losing 6 stone was bad but losing 30 odd stone she would be having surgery for years to get rid of all that skin
MrRalphMan
At least she would have been alive for her Family and Kids, don't think it's as grim as life as they now face.

Scooter
here's what gets me about situations like this.............if a person gets so obese that they cannot physical move around by themselves then EVERYONE knows this is seriously not healthy, and yet when they become immobile they still manage to gain further weight and to do this they simply must be helped by people who should know better.......... I just got curious............ By my basic calulations if it was possible to put this lady into a controlled coma during which she could be sustained with zero calorie intake then it would have taken 3 years in this state to lose 700lbs and get to 200lbs, which is still a sizable lady. 3500cals x 700lbs / 2200cals/day = 1114 days
Carl_S
I didn't feel much compassion for this lady - but I certainly didnt feel like laughing at her. It is right that she went public, and sometimes, eating disorders can be serious like this, but others are hidden. Super slim girls could be in a prison of their bodies too, its just not so obvious. Both extremes are so dangerous. By the way my cat just threw up.
