  1. To be honest it would be very difficult to quantify. Would the car have one or both cats fitted? Would it have stock or hybrid turbos? What exhaust system is fitted? What make of FMIC are we talking? Would the inlet have a cold air feed....or might it even be an induction kit? Not only that but the percentage would vary vastly between winter and summer. As you can see, to get any kind of meaningful answer you would need a LOT of data. Far more aggro than just saying....'oh, my EGT's are too high..I'd better get an FMIC ;-) Cheers, Nathan TDI PLC
  2. Don't quote me on it, but I have a feeling that the E-manage needs additional parts such as boost modules to get anything like an adjustment that goes beyond the original map, thus making it a cludge (I hate that word) in out-of-the-box form, if you like. Sort of like a nicer, more adjustable UniChip. Like I said though, check it out. I could be wrong. Tim at SVS (a throughly nice chap) is the official outlet for Trust/Greddy in the UK but at the time we were looking into the E-Manage the data he had on it was lame to say the least. Theres other options anyway- the HKS FCON S from us, the Autronic from Leon/Terry Saunders and the AEM from Paul Whiffin, all of which have been used succesfully in the UK but obviously its your choice at the end of the day. Cheers Nathan TDI PLC
  3. We've had these engines up to 1125 deg C, pulled them apart and found no damage. Wouldn't reccomend it though. 950 deg C is my personal max limit. Don't forget that you need a lot of load to get a decent EGT reading. It's no good going for a quick blast up to say 100mph (unless thats as hard as your drivng ever gets). To get a meaningful figure you need to really load the car up, say 160mph, and keep it thereabouts for at least 20 secs, with as much boost as you have the bottle for. Sustained full boost and load is what you need. It's not unusual for 1.2bar with exhaust & frontpipe on stock IC/turbos to reach 850~900 deg C. Cheers, Nathan TDI PLC
  4. Holy smoke.......you're on here as well now Chris?! We'd better hope, for all our sakes, that Steve Chohan doesn't grace us with his presence again ;-) 'Steve Chohan'? I hear everyone say.....well, apart from the oldies that is..... Cheers Nathan TDI PLC
  5. Well, like I said, not so much trawling as I don't really have the time, especially on a BBS where everything has to be done online. I'll try and keep an eye out but my main reason for looking on this BBS will be to make any corrections or if I see someone about to blow their car up. Theres certainly a lot of threads I'll miss though so don't count on me being there! As for the Diablo, you do know it's a kit don't you, and not a real one?! Yes, I'll always regret selling the Supra. I've still yet to come accross a car that gives so much for so little cash. I regret selling it because it would have done everything better than my replica Diablo except, in my eyes, look as good. I fell in love with the Diablo shape many years ago and theres still nothing like it. But my replica, even with it's spaceframe, double wishbones, coil overs and V8 noise it'll still never be anything like as accomplished as a tuned Mk4. I'd love my next car to be a 355 as it goes. I just take great offence to getting fleeced because of a badge. Especially when you could buy 3 better engineered cars (Supras) for the same money.. Anyhow, enough off topic stuff. Cheers, Nathan. 6. Glad to hear you're OK and the car is now there. Great figures. Diablo? Honestly? I should never sold the Supra. Time and cost are now both way over on the kit but theres no way I can stop now so it will have to be finished by hook or by crook. Oh well, you live and learn. CD's car, yes, he's happy which is the main thing. Autos and GT2835's aren't really my bag but there you go. The FCON made things a little more bearable for him. BTW, if you hear anymore about you know what (what we last spoke about) please let me know. Cheers Nathan TDI PLC
  7. Ah...Terence. Likewise. Trauling? No, not really. I've never had the time to 'traul' anywhere on the web really. Got involved with this thread as there was some confusion between the originator and some information that had come from us but as you've probably read it's now all sorted. Everything OK? 8. Hi there, Personally I'd say that it would be difficult to tell given the test you have done. Not only is the distance fairly small but the surface (is it smooth concrete?) wouldn't be the best judge either. Don't forget that it IS possible to get both wheels to spin on a car fitted without an LSD if both tyres are getting very similar traction.... As for the database being wrong....well, all I can say is how I find, and I've never had a problem with correlating JDM numbers to their spec, but like anything theres always a first. I'd say there would be more chance of an import coming over with a bent chassis plate than Toyotas data being wrong (after all I've seen plenty of bent chassis plates) but I'm happy to be proven wrong, and I honestly hope that I am. Give Leon a call and see if he has a s/h one, and if so, it might be worth whizzng up there and letting him decide if you need one. I'm sure he can carry out a sufficient wheelspin test ;-) Cheers Nathan TDI PLC
  9. Bugger. Rumbled. Now I've got to change my email adress and everything that relates to it....... On second thoughts.....far too much aggro. I hope no-one minds and doesn't think I'm someone pretending to own a Supra just to get on the site..;-) Nathan TDI PLC
  10. Hi there, OK, the first thing to do before you go anywhere is establish whether this car defo has an LSD or not. We've all gone around the houses on the word of someone else who you now think could be wrong. I'm certainly not going to name or shame anyone (the punters do that) but I really can't see it being a problem for anyone that knows anything about Supras to confirm if the thing has an LSD or not. The single black line pictured by another member is an excellent example. Go and try it (on a private road of course ;-) Once you know for sure, things can progress into driveshaft fitment etc. Cheers, Nathan TDI PLC
  11. Aaaand.........my last post makes absolutely no sense at all does it without your quotes inserted. Damn BBS's ;-) Your text was in the box my end so I've no idea why it didn't post but hey ho. You'll have to try and pick through it. Is there an easy way of quoting? Cheers, Nathan TDI PLC
  12. At the time of writing the first email to you, I did not know that the axle code existed. I knew only the chassis number and thought it could all be searched from there. I was clearly wrong there, Toyota informed me that the Jap spec cars do not have the same VIN codes as UK, US and Euro cars.> Hi there, There are only two codes you need on the JDM models to obtain any parts. That is, the model code (in your case ALFQZ) and the chassis number JZA80 00..... (not printed in full due to scum who play with plates). Armed with those two codes you should be able to wak into any Toyota dealer to buy any part for that car. We sent the codes to our Toyota guy and he actually confirmed that, according to Toyota, your vehicle never left the factory with an LSD fitted. I guess the bottom line is that Toyota are either wrong with their data, or someone has played with the chassis plate on your car (assuming that is where you got your axle code from). Don't bother looking for a VIN number- there won't be one. Or on any JDM car for that matter. This is all of course assuming that you do indeed have an LSD fitted. It's very easy to tell. If you're unsure bring it down here and I'll see how much rubber I can leave up the road :-) No, never rec'd a second mail. Sorry. Aaah. Thats where the confusion was. You are looking for a code that doesn't exist, and I interpreted that as you not having all the codes. Sorry. At the time I wrotew my last mail I did not have your email to us in front of me, only word from Mark. No problem at all, I just want to see you sorted out. What confuses me is the amount of hassle you are having. I have yet to have a problem with ordering any JDM part, given the information that you already have. I agree, the stock diffs are nicer to use and are more than man enough for most people, and I also hope that a TRD diff wasn't too 'pushed' upon you as your only option. I never had a problem with my stock diff and neither have I heard of one falling apart either. You'll normally twist propshafts before blowing your diff apart or causing excessive wear. As for getting a stock diff, I think the easiest thing to do is obtain another chassis and model code from a similar year Supra from another member of the BBS and order it that way. I'd be extremely surprised if it didn't fit, put it that way ;-) Cheers Nathan TDI PLC
  13. Chaps, After hearing about what seemed to be mis-information from these quarters I thought I'd have an ask around and found out that we were never given the axle code by ninja_eli. We were only given the chassis and vehicle codes, which makes it even more confusing because ninja_eli states on an early post that he didn't have them, but his email to us came before the one to this board...?! We contacted Toyota on his behalf to see if they could establish whether he had an LSD or not, purely by reference from the codes we had been given. Toyota could not be certain on this and simply said that it probably didn't have one. Anyways, no matter, just thought I'd clarify our position. Glad it got sorted in the end. Regards to all Nathan.
