  1. Oh folks, not impressed with UK brakes, had Brembos before and were ok. Who has experience of good braking systems on here ?

I have been advised that the AP 6 pots groved (not vented) are a good buy.

I need them to clear no wider than 1 cm more than UK brakes to fit the SSR Decolte Evolution wheels I have.

What size (mm) discs could I have I wonder ?

Who is an AP/Brembo fan ?

What options are open to me ?

Have you hear of the 8 and 10 pot braking systems ?

Do any Supras have those on that we know of ?

(You don't have to answer all these questions but a good discussion on brakes is always lively !) :)

    44. Whitelightning (TAZ), we haven't got a clue what we are doing but it should be fun :)

  3. Well a dyno will solve it once and for all.

It just doesnt feel that quick yet. It could be a number of factors.

The results I posted were from the road testing we did, Mark on laptop, me on 100% throttle at various boost settings. Terry advised 1.5 bar to be safe so I went for that as a higher setting on the SBC.

She definately does not come on full boost (through the gears and not in 6th) below 5000rpm. I do know that I have some potential areas that could be leaking boost from intercooler piping to a "possible" hole in the intercooler (although I am satisfied this is not the case).

Hey - I am not complaining, I simply though you folks might want my opinion and some source data from our testing :)

Still much work to do on TAZ - which is what I like about our cars. Who wants a finished product ? We would get bored eh ?

  4. Thanks to Mark from MA Developments for tuning my car yesterday.

TAZ picks up well and is producing a true 1.5 bar now.

Adjusted water injection to come on earlier, semi-solved aircon switch issue with the ECU (Autronic) and identified a crank sensor problem (She safely cuts out at 7150rpm - which some 2000 rpm sooner than she is designed to go to) which I will speak to Terry S about later.

Also if anyone is interested our BL74 practical stats, this tricked turbo comes on full boost at 5000rpm through the gears and 4500 in 6th. So It is my humble opinion that (despite the power) most of you are better off with the BL 61 or 67 series in the UK. I think the BL74 reacts like a GReddy T88, abeit the T88 produces a little more power (for you dragster nutters).

I am finding TAZ to more behaved than WHITELIGHTNING, but this is due to Terry S working on the suspension and car setup and is not attributable to the choice of turbo.

TAZ is not dyno'd yet but we think she sits around 500bhp. I would be interested to get her tested on a reputable dyno now she is tuned, just to see what torque that might be.

I would also like to create a 1.8 bar map at a later date for meets and trackwork, but am not keen to go much higher. (Especially after the 4" BL exhaust upgrade).

So if you have an Autronic ECU - get yourself down to Mark Shead in Maidenhead who is a whizzkid on the products. And Mark, get your Evo back on the road !!

  5. The next quality up is near 300MB.

    Not realy hostable online.

Michael, your awakening was recorded on someone's telephone was it not ?

If I meet up with people I can burn a CD and give to them.

Im not in the business of being a CD replicator so am not offering to send them out by post to everyone.

  6. One of our ESM2005 crew just pointed out something.

The germans also wanted to plan something, maybe you/we should see what they have planned? It would be rather stupid if there are 2x ESM's in the same year :) Although... would probably mean twice the fun!!!

So who else is organising an event.

I wanna go to Germany - we can go fast there :)

  7. JohnK, I have been editing the video, its basiclly done and is being uploaded now.

DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT TOOK TO EDIT OUT YOUR ABUSIVE FINGER WORK ?? :)

Well, some of it was timely and funny so it stayed in ;), the video is 20 mins long and I have got it down to 50mb for the web version. I shall have to send out the original to the participants as a momento :)

Now if only this would up load quicker . . .

    . . . . watch this space as they say :)

  8. Thats where my sister got married . . .

Hang on is THAT my sister ? LOL !!

Nope, but same sunset on on all here piccies, we tried to have her thrown off into the volcanoe but her husband rescued her.

I had the best chance of silencing her lhasa apso whilst she was away too :(

    Damn !

  9. Yeah it was a shame, I don't know what advertising SONID did to get people on board, I found out from this forum in this thread, i wonder if they posted in other forums ?

I personally wasnt going to enter any competitions, Im not that competitive and TAZ is not ready to be thrashed. The Danish loved Mkivs and I wish there had been more there. But one good thing did come out of this, my awareness of the other Supra models :) Believe me if the Danish COULD have mkivs they WOULD !! I feel sorry for them and their car tax system :(

But part of the event was the drive there and back, we all love driving our cars and we got to play on the German autobahns :)

Even grumpy JohnK was smiling :)

  10. I'M A SINGLE FLICKER !

    And proud of it.

Look, flick, move quickly and observe

    Rinse and repeat :)

If you are going to take all day manoeuvring then you are more of a hazzard.

Move swiftly and smoothly, indicating with a few blips for those nutters behind.

In Germany, you are going so fast that I beleive the Germans move first and flick later to ensure getting into the gap :)

(I took my test in Germany BTW)
