  1. Electrodes breaking off dont melt pistons mate but they can damage them as we see........it takes a hell of a lot to melt a piston though. If the car was running lean because the pump wasnt sucking up fuel,as it was, and the plug tips HAD remained in tact.........the pistons would have still been knackered cos of the heat in the cylinder in turn melting a piston or two maybe more in time, no ? So if the plugs HAD remained in tact..........the damage would possibly have been substantially more with melted pistons and a fooked block / bores ? So the plugs arent really in the equation. Because the AFR problem was the main factor in the chain of damage. The plug damaged the top of the pistons.....but it could have been worse if they had kept in one piece and the car had kept running lean. The damage caused to the piston in this instance is physical.......as in chunks out of it................not heat related from a lean AFR which was apparent in this car, this in turn caused the plugs to overheat by the looks of it and tips to break off. The problem isnt plug related, it was AFR related due to a fuelling prob. Michael
  2. I have used a heap of stuff in my time running a valet company with my dad, but Autosol is great with a bit of elbow grease. Brillo pad and some autosol on it, then buff it up with a stockinette cloth and hey presto
  3. I have standard Jap size plates on my Supra, 13" x 6.5" and Standard Irish Sized numbers and letters. Cant remember what size these characters are but they are the smallest legally permitted on any UK Vehicle. Japanese Import Vehicles are allowed "permission" to have a smaller sized plate, but only if the resess area for the plate is too small to fit a UK Number plate. I had two relatively small number plates on my Escort Cosworth, and was stopped twice for it. £30 fine both times. Its not worth the hassle, and the Supra looks great with a standard sized Jap plate made up to UK spec on it. Fits perfectly over the hole at the rear, as well as snugly in the bumper gap at the front on the Jap Brackets. Michael
  4. Dont really think that can be blamed on the plugs this time,if the fuel pump wasnt relocated on its bracket properly, and sucking air at High Revs then i dont think ANY spark plug would be able to cope with that for a prolonged period of time. If you look at the thread you will see the guy himself actually puts the blame down to the Fuel Pump fitting fault and not actually the plugs. Michael
  5. coolio i pm'd you it not long ago i think, ta.
  6. Ohhh thats a good idea, i never received my stickers though, so i dont know if my membership details / address were noted ?!
  7. LOL only you could come up with something like that I would need to have it signed for on delivery though, u know what royal mail are like ! ha ha Think am gonna go for it and see what happens, its not a Supra, but its certainly too good to scrap. Anyone want a feesty with a years MOT for £250 ?? lol
  8. As far as i know this machine does all that before and after they straighten it........good machine........it should be for £19k ! lol Michael
  9. I was given a 1991 H-Reg Fiesta for nothing a couple of weeks ago.......the car itself is a very good runner, uses no oil or water, and never breaks down. The paintwork is very flat and non polishable (white) and a couple of small sections of rust on the arches, but nothing major. Had it in for an MOT and it needs new discs and pads at front........(£45) and a lower nearside suspension arm (£23) and also a very small section welded on the lower nearside sill (been quoted (£40) So all in including the MOT cost its going to cost me £148 to get through an MOT and on the road. I dont want the car, but it seems a shame to scrap it when it needs so little.........and its an excellent runner. The interior is also mint. Is it worth MOT'ing though ? I mean i was gonna do that and then advertise it with a years MOT for sale as a first car for someone, or a runaround for £250. Makes me £100 for my effort. All the buyer would have to do is tax it and away they go......... Anyone think its worth doing ? Or will i be making a loss expecting that much ? or could i get more for a car with a full new years MOT ? Michael
  10. Nightmare, nothing worse than bending a rim. I did it to an 18" Rondell i had on my Escort Cosworth and then found out you couldnt buy them anymore ! Good place up here has some massive laser machine that straightens slightly bent wheels though..........ran straight on the balance machine afterwards as well......superb.
  11. Plenty folk have already said it, and i will repeat it............walk away........take the advice mate.
  12. BOLLO*KS Man utd up 3-2 with 30 mins to go............
  13. LOL this thread is great ! First car i can "remember" my dad having was a Vauxhall Chevette.......sadly it was smashed when i was in the back, 3 years old, and some wan*er in a Capri decided to not stop at a roundabout and slam clean into the rear quarter of us while my mum was driving. End of Chevette........ Then it was an A-Reg Brown Cavalier Saloon........oh classy lol.........a C-Reg white Rover 214si (the boxey shaped ones) and then a series of other sadly no longer made quality automobiles
  14. 1-0 up and only 7 mins gone ! Superb ! Not that i am an Arsenal fan, but just tired of Man Utd winning everything for years. Oh yeah............and Alex Fergusons gob lol Then again he is Scottish and we are rather outspoken at times Come on the GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONERS !
  15. Moral of the story.................... ......................If u dont want the sack........dont post stuff that will come back to haunt you lol
  16. Just a suggestion but maybe better not to post stuff like that at all if you're worried about the person it regards, reading it ??
  17. I would have thought if anything it would be very very slightly less stress on the engine as the clutch is dis-engaged, so less turning force on the plates than when engaged. Resulting in i guess what you could call easier on the engine........wouldnt have thought it was a common thing though or we would all be doing it
  18. LOL @ all the comments. The words "UTTER SHED" spring to mind...........it just cries out "smashed and rough and totally not straight" Everything u would want to avoid in a Supra !! Wonder if the new owner will come on here.
  19. Posted this a few days ago......and we all mocked and laughed.........but some folk have actually bid it up to £5600 !!!!!!!! Strange how the high bidder is a new member with zero feedback though eh Dodgy Supra Unbelievable lol
  20. I know i prefer Paypal too, but it just says Money Transfer only, and i really want the item
  21. Hi all I am wanting to buy something off ebay Australia, and the seller only accepts money transfers by bank transfer. Does anyone know if it costs a lot to do this from a UK bank to an Australian bank or is it a nominal charge ? It will only be for about £25 ish. Thanks Michael
  22. Ohhh i quite enjoyed "clicking" you there
  23. I paid my membership with Paypal too but didnt know about the stickers, can someone explain to me how i can get some now please ?
  24. No worries lol It may be no use, but check local papers to where he lives etc, my mate had his badgeless grill stolen off his MK3 Golf GTI a few years back..........and nobody saw or heard of it for a few weeks.........then the stupid idiot who stole it advertised it for sale in the local free ads paper !!! DUMBASS !!! So we phoned about it, went round........there it was sat in his garage, said we didnt want it and left..........phoned the Police and they turned up and the guy admitted it lol...........luck or what ! Worth a try though mate !
