  1. ..that I feel deflated and sad as every day goes by without the Supra?

OK, I have great stuff going on in my life at the same time, but for the past two days I have been on pins, checking train times waiting for the green light to go and pick up the new Supra, and now it looks like it's going to be next Wednesday-ish :(

A lot of you people spend time without your cars, but I bet you don't have to drive around in a G-reg Ford Orion, complete with moaning-clutch, drum brakes, and clattery valves. Oh, and no radio whatsoever.

I can't take it any more.

  2. Mine stay on 24/7 and so do almost all of my customers. It's convenient when coming back to the computer, and it suits remote access too, although magic packets could be sent etc but I just leave them on. Switch the screens off though or set the screen to be turned off after some time.

I'd say it is personal choice though, and I'm all open to being persuaded to change my practice in this regard ;)

  3. ILl take that Carlos. Postage / collection by courier it would have to be though.

OK mate, let me see what I can do with regard to a suitable shipping box, and I'll come back to you.

Delivery cost will be ~£14.95 + vat, or just call it £15 and I'll let the company claim the vat back, since this is what Business Post charge me, and I seem to remember having problems with large/heavy items at the post office..

    how does that sound?

  4. I've looked into this for putting some sort of surveillance for the soop - ended up with all the costs that it would be cheaper for me if they just stole it (especially with the way supra prices are going!!) I looked at a system that would be hooked up to the tv/pc. I ended up buying a wireless system thinking wireless meant wireless (no wires). Instead it was a box full of wires (all had to be rigged up etc... )make sure you read the small print

Have you looked at these? I'm going to order one..

  5. I'll reduce the price to £150 for a quick sale, but remember that PayPal will be taking something like £10 of that, and fuel costs a huge amount of money, so I don't want to be having to drive upwards of 20 miles to meet someone, as that's gonna cost another £20..

  6. Bugger, I thought it was the little box of tricks that was for sale.

No, but you'd be surprised how cheap they are.

Although PC-Engines say they will not sell directly to UK end users, you just say you are a system integrator/builder, or just go ahead and order anyway and he delivers.

Mine is a WRAP 1E1, 128mb, Dual ethernet, Dual MiniPCI, 266MHz AMD Geode.

Order from the "any PC Engines - EUR prices all products - for EU countries, business customers ONLY !" link, at the bottom of the Europe list. (http://www.pcengines.ch/order.php)

He's showing no stock at the moment, but it didn't take long for new stock to arrive. I was told there was a faster more powerful version in the works..

  7. I did a deal with a friend for this one. She had changed to an Apple Mac, and I needed something to build an Asterisk phone-system out of. The deal was I would take her hard disk, put it into an external USB2/Firewire enclosure so she could access all her music on the Mac, and I could have what was left of the PC.

As a result, the machine had a brand new Western Digital 120gb Hard Disk not very long ago.

I built the machine with Trixbox, and had a play. I have since decided to go for something a bit smaller for my Asterisk device:

So, this machine is for sale. It was used for a period of two weeks, two weeks of very late nights. Since then it hasn't been switched on until five minutes ago.

The graphics card is very basic, since I nicked the GeForce card for something else..

    Specification is:

    AMD Athlon XP 3000+ CPU

    512mb DDR Memory

    120gb Western Digital IDE HDD

    ATI Radeon 7000 Graphics Card

    Onboard Audio

    USB2

    DVDRW

    DVDROM

    Floppy

    Fast Ethernet

Legitimate, licensed Windows XP Home edition - sticker on front

There is only one problem that I am aware of, and that is that the front-panel USB socket is broken. This is a feature of the case and it has had a cable yanked out of it or something. No biggy really.

The flap/door which would have covered up this USB port also seems to be missing.

The previous owner was a heavy smoker :D (DVDRW is a bit yellow).

£165, PayPal preferred, no extra charges.

Delivery is a stumbling block at the moment, since I don't have the box that the case came in. Somebody within the North West would be ideal

    Any takers?

  8. This is a modular 4-port FXS/FXO (analogue) telephone line-interface card, used for hooking up a computer-based phonesystem to a phoneline for placing and receiving calls, or connecting analogue handsets (if FXS modules are used).

The card is populated with a single FXO module, with the other three slots ready to accept additional FXO or FXS modules. In this configuration (single FXO) it's known as a TDM01B.

I bought the card from Keison / VoIPon a few months ago whilst learning

VoIP/Asterisk, but I haven't had time really, and will probably be playing

more with SIP and GSM rather than my home phoneline when I do get the time.

The card has therefore only been used to place a couple of calls, and is as

    new.

Looking for £75 including delivery, PayPal preferred, no extra charges.

Ideal if you want to play with Trixbox or Asterisk.

    Any takers?

    cheers,

    Carl

  9. Slightly off topic but...

We have a wired adsl router connected to a pc. My other half doesn't want a wireless network but I do. Could I get a laptop and have it talk to a wireless doodah that is connected to the wired router? Basically, can you daisychain routers?

Yup. Just buy a wireless Access Point, and plug it into one of the Ethernet ports.

Silly really though, since the WAP will cost about the same as a full Wireless Router (which is what in effect you are building..)
