  1. Thanks for the replies, I'll have to see how i get on with the powerbraking technique. I didn't think there was an actual switch btw, I just found a reference to it here, looks like there is a slow start off circuit that can switched off somewhere by altering some of the ECU's wiring. Just being an optimist in the hope it would be a nice easy fix, no such luck then! Cheers, Matt
  2. I'm hope someone may know what I'm talking about! I was searching on the site for auto launching techniques as mine is very slow to get off the mark. In one of the threads, Matt H said you can turn off the slow start switch and that Mycroft may have some information on this. Mycroft doesn't post on here anymore so I'm hoping someone else might know if this is possible and how to do it. I'm a bit concerned as my fastest 0-100kmph (62mph) out of a few attempts was 8.4 seconds. (This was measured with some borrowed timing gear and should be quite accurate). Admittedly, I had a full tank of fuel and there were two of us in the car, plus a load of of timing equipment and with the roof off. But I've read times 6.4-6.7 as the norm (its an N/A), so 8.4 seems really slow. The car feels ok and I think that the poor times are down to bogged down launches so if I could turn off the slow start thing it might help a little. Cheers Matt
  3. Cheers Ian, that makes sense. I'm confident I've got the correct wires now. I read about a bloke on club lexus whose tuner got a couple of the wires mixed up and managed to grenade two engines. Didn't want to go down that route!
  4. Hi Will, I recently bought a NA Aerotop so understand where you're coming from. I previously had a hardtop NA MR2 which I had for about 3 years. All the time I owned it, I regretted not getting the T-Bar or the Turbo version. So when looking to get a Supra I was admant i'd get a TT Aerotop, then saw the prices they were fetching . So it was down to a choice of what would I rather have, a (kind of) convertible or a hardtop that looks exactly the same, but goes faster. When I first got the car I was impressed with the performance, but have got used to it far too quickly. On a couple of occassions I've had people sat up my a**e and thought "I'll show you matey" and booted it only for them to keep up with me (e.g. rep in a 328i BMW. oh the shame!!!) I think it all depends on what you personally want from a car, if you want good looks, reasonable performance and a summer cruiser then the NA Aero is perfect. If you lean more to the performance side then the TT is the one to have. Or if you want both and you're a rich jammy git then get an Aerotop TT. I think it would be worth test driving a few of both the NA and TT so you can be sure you're making the right decision. Oh and BTW insurance is way cheaper on the UK TT than the NA for me too! Matt
  5. Thanks for confirming that Darren, I thought that was the case but wasn't 100% sure. Lets just hope it all works! Matt
  6. Thanks Simon, My cars a '94 so non-VVTi, according to the ECU pin diagram pin 62 is listed on the NA as [PIM] - Vacuum sensor. That sounds like it could be something to do with the MAP sensor as its pressure related. I'll double check with a voltmeter to see what its giving out before connecting anything up, should be somewhere between 0-5v IIRC. Oh and just to be doubly sure, can anyone confirm the NA definitely uses a MAP sensor for checking the airflow. Thanks, Matt
  7. I've bought myself one of these to install on my NA. I know that officially they're not supported on the NA but I've read of a few people installing them succesfully on the 2JZ-GE. Both on the Supe and the IS300, shame none of them gave an details of the installations! I've found a diagram of the NA ECU here. It looks very similar to the TT one, in fact all the connections I need to make to the e-manage are identical. Except one! Looking at the wiring diagram for the 2JZ-GTE here, it shows that the airflow output is pin 66. On the TT this is the MAF sensor, whereas on the NA there's nothing listed against pin 66. I know that the Jap spec NA uses a MAP sensor rather than a MAF sensor and have adjusted the jumpers on the e-manage to allow for this, but I still need to know which wire is the MAP sensor. Reading this back, it seems I could have just asked which wire is the MAP sensor on the NA ECU, oh well you got the reason why i want to know too! Thanks for any help you can offer, Matt (Almost time to pay my tenner methinks!)
  8. My top 3 in no particular order; do-luck whifbitz stillen Cheers, Matt (Is this post going somewhere btw, ie you'll making copies of the overall favourites to sell at ridiculously low prices )
  9. If you're planning on getting another batch made up then I'd take one. Cheers, Matt
