  1. Thats not the way i read it................

Chris posted in some more recent threads about his preferences for a narrower wheel and higher tyre wall for a track car. It's not something I can see as very helpful on a road going car that isn't going to be pushing the limits of grip on every turn of the wheel.

...and this is headed off-topic already  The fact is, the wheels the OP has are far outside the specifications Toyota designed the suspension for. I don't think it a good idea to recommend he continue with such a non-standard wheel size without undertaking the suspension work required to use those size wheels.

  2. 7.5in is far too narrow for a Supra, get some new wheels of the correct size:

    Minimum: 17x8 with 235/45 front and 17x9.5 255/40 rear

    Or 18x8 235/40 front and 18x9.5 265/35 rear

    -50 offset on both.

  3. Good to hear it's where you want it now :)

11s qtr is going to be a real challenge first time out! Are you putting some grippy tires on? Best of luck with the run, good to know some of these singles are going to get used in anger :D

  4. Check your insurance documents - it is probably in the small print somewhere. If not, you could always make a complaint to the Financial Services Authority and see if you get anywhere with that.

In the policy it normally states something about cancelations, e.g:

Cancel after 3 months you get 50%

    after 6 months 25%

    after 9 months 10%

It's normally imposed by the policy rather than by the broker.

  5. I don't beleive this is something specific to Sky, I've had the same problem with several insurance companies in the past.

When I swapped from the Supra to BMW this year I got a very good deal, they matched my best quote so renewed with them anyway...

It's a shame that it works this way, but it's just the way the industry works...

  6. Could it be one of those daughter board additions that we saw the other week here?

I seriously doubt some UK outfit would go to the bother of making one (or even if they have the skill), but it's a possibilty isn't it?

Might be worth splitting the ECU open to see if anythings been touched inside. Does anyone know if there is some sort of seal to see if it's been opened before?

  7. Put your handbags away guys! :D

it has declared manufactured 1995 on the v5

Something a bit fishy going on there then... Check the VIN number stamped on the back of the firwall (Just to the right of the brake master cylinder) amd also check the date stamp on the seatbelt tag, just make sure it all ties up to a 93 car.

  8. i have taken some shots of my progress so far. i am just working out what size hoses etc , i will be needing for the oil and water cooling. also i have labelled the photos as there are some connections that i am not sure about. any help would be good.

    thanks

    First pic you are correct

Second pic, 1 and 2 are correct. No 3 is the cam breather so should be connected to the intake after the filter but before the compressor (or via catch can if you have one)

    Third pic you are correct

Forth pic: 1 and 2 are a boost pressure supply, only one of these is needed (to the boost controller In or Out port, I forget). 3 is not needed but could be an intake temp sensor if its on the compressor. 4 You're correct

  9. hi all

I have a jspec tt auto which is on an N-plate but the vin no is 0011000 'roughly' which makes it manufactured in sept '93 is this normal on imported cars??

makes no difference to me tbh, It can be built in any yr and any month as long as its not built on either a friday afternoon or a monday morning..... ;)

It's not a facelift is it (chassis number starts with a '1' ?). A 001100 places it as an Oct-93 car.

If it's not a facelift then it's more than likely an error by DVLA where they've issued a reg plate based on it's registration date rather than manufacture date. It was a common problem a few years ago.
