  1. A good performance garage nearish to you is Abbey Motorsport, which is where I am taking my MKIV on Monday check out http://www.abbeymotorsport.co.uk hope it helps
  2. I get 300-310 miles from a tank most times, usually get 340-360 on a motorway run. This is travelling at a speed of 85mph maybe 90ish. I did a test a while back, travelling at 70mph on the dot and the most got from a tank was 370-390, but that was with little turbo usage. Last outing for my car on saturday before she goes into Abbey Motorsport for some repairs on monday:( Its not going to be cheap either
  3. Hi All Just worked out the directions and mileage, about 42 miles ish. See you all on Saturday
  4. Hi All Car is booked in to go to Abbey Motor Sport on Dec. 8th. They say they will have the car in for about a week so I am gonna have 2 hire a car for the period. Will let you all know how it goes.... AG my Supra is the best car I have ever owned, it would be stupid not to get her repaired.
  5. The car has lost some of its power. Still goes pretty fast, but not as much as when I first bought it.
  6. Ive had the car nearly two years. I will get them to take the head off and check it out. I spoke to a garage who were talking about a replacement engine etc, and they quoted me nearly £4000. Well the car is only worth £4109 part-ex (did a check on autotrader) so its the cost of the car id be spending out.. Anywayz I am still looking to find the money to get the work done and i will prolly get it booked in the 1st week of dec.
  7. Hi All I got down to Abbey Motor Sport this week and got my car tested. The results of the tests were not good. The first 4 Cylinders working at about 173psi, the fifth is working at 143psi and the sixth isnt working at all, its running at 0psi. Lets say they didnt get as far as testing for oil leaks!! They have quoted me £1320 to remove the head and have said that I may need 2 or more new pistons, plus my inlet vavle isnt working properly?? They say they can prolly get it all done in a week and they can book it in from the 2nd week in December. So I am prolly looking at a bill of at least £1600 if not more!! Then again the car currently sits at 126,000+ miles, so I can't whinge too much, as it has done a lot of work and my right foot isnt very light (Far will agree with me on that one hehehehe) Im currently in the process of making some money available to get the work carried out and will keep you all updated of any developments.

  16. I got mine cleaned as well. I had done rather a lot of mileage and my rims were getting to be the same colour as the tyres. Thats apart from the dirt on the bodywork. Went down to Guildford Car Valet http://www.guildfordcarvalet.co.uk/ they did a good job. I got a 'stage 2 clean' which cost me £14.50. The car is now at least clean and I wont feel like such a newbie turning up in my stock spec MKIV. I will be a newbie with a clean car Anywayz end of BS, catch u all in about 4 hoursish.
  17. Thx I should b there 4 about 8ish.
  18. Thx HISUPE Yeah nearly got rid of the cold. Currently buying and consuming Lemsip in large quantities. I cant wait to get rid of it as one of the symptoms makes me keep falling asleep, thus I cannot drive so my MKIV hasnt been driven in like 4 days odd.... Will be kewl to meet some more MKIV owners, as the only person I know on this list is Farhan. Hopefully catch you all on monday guyz
  19. Hi All I will try and get down there too. Currently trying to get rid of a cold and feelin pretty bad. Hopefully be better on Monday.
  20. Yeah I know As I said, best car I have ever owned. Previously I had 4 Vauxhalls and they were all aggro from start 2 finish. Ive had the supra for a year and a half and done untold amounts of driving and had no problems. Roll on the 18th, all will be revealed.
  21. Kewl Not sure if Im going to be back in surrey then, but I have penciled it in. Where in guildford is it going to be..?
  22. After speaking to Chris Wilson, who told me what tests I needed to get done to find out what problems there actually were on the car, not just speculation. I have just spoken to Abbey Motorsport on Oxted, who are going to have a look at the car on the 18th and run pressure tests, etc. Hopefully then I can find out exactly what I need to get done on the car. If I actually do need a new engine or if I can get away with a new HG, etc. Thanks again for all your help guyz, its much appreciated :@) When is the next group meet..? Would be great to meet you all.
  23. Hi Steve Yeah it was me passing epson race course I used to live in Tattenham Corner/Banstead. It did seem very steep to me as well, but I dont know too many people in the trade and no one who would undertake the work, only main dealers and the like. (like McCarthy Toyota in Croydon) who would do the job on a discount basis. The piston rings and valve stem oil seals were a reccomendation by McCarthy as I was losing oil, again not knowing too much about cars/engines (DUH!) I have to take their word for it. The engine has done 123,700 milesish, so they said these parts may be starting to wear. but they said if I wanted this work doing, I wouldnt see much change out of £3000. They recommended that I possibly bought a new lump and went on from there. But if I go down that route, I need to think about turbos and stuff as well. The 2nd place I spoke to, said that they would send the turbo's away to another company and ask them to be check them over and maybe rebuild them with steel blades insttead of ceramic ones which are there right now. They came back with a worse case scenario for an engine refit, plus seals, etc, plus VAT of £3700 Have you guyz got any contacts who could do this for me cheaper than the prices I have been quoted. I love my MKIV its the best car ive ever owned so I want to keep her on the road. RSVP and thanks again for all your help
  24. Hi All Just joined you all and have a question. Ive got a '95 TT Import with 120k+ with a leaking HG. It hasnt blown, but I need to get it seen to before it does. I have spoken to a couple of places including a main dealer who have quoted me best part of £3000 to replace the HG and Valve Stem Oil Seals and Piston Rings. I spoke to another firm who were gonna replace the lump and possibly refurb the turbos. They said worst scenario, the cost was going to be £3700. I told them I would get back to them. Well £3700 is 2/3's the cost of the car, possibly more. Anyone got any ideas where I can go to get ths sorted out. I think that the quotes Ive had so far are taking the P just a bit. Thanks in advance for any help @sh
