Got it started yesterday. Kept the baffle in the exhaust for the neighbours
It started immediately, still to road test but it came up to temp and pressurised fine.

Eyup @Scooter, I remember you. At a quick glance there doesn't seem to be many of those old names about the forum. I think I last posted in 2005
I took the car off the road in 2013 , when it stopped being useful as the family grew. I never could bear to part with it over the years and never needed the space or the money, so I managed to keep it.
Kids are grown up now and my daughter wanted to go to her prom in the car so we decided to get it back on the road for summer and enjoy it a bit before there's no more petrol left. I'm not sure how long I'll last driving about these days with the loud exhaust
Hoping to get it started today

eyup geezers, i'm ok. i just don't have the time for this anymore. keep me informed if there are any more meets and stuff, i still like to see you lot.

the stock MAP sensor is a 2bar sensor, the voltage is maxxed at around 1.2 after that any extra fueling comes from the increased rail pressure.
-
OT, Eyefi, still looking for the MF2, two last boxes to look in this weekend mate otherwise its been thrown
cheers fella.
-
if you want to accurately fuel over 1.2 bar you need another MAP sensor. you can fudge it to run rich at 1.2 which would still give enough fuel for 1.3. i do not recommend this.
apexi do a drop in replacement that is already setup in the powerfc if you have the commander.

why not just scoop from below the light?
is it legal?
-
i've got loads of knock sensor datalogs and from them my reckoning is that occasionally (seemingly random, probably linked to station delivery and age) optimax reduces knock by a small amount. i generally use sainsbury's super.
have you noticed that shell don't advertise a ron rating for optimax anymore?

look at chris's nice wheels.

monkey, give your local vets a ring they will take it and they keep a book, so anyone looking for it can find it.

the pit is awesome.
my only niggle with this event is no onsite camping. it would be great if you could just wake up and saunter into the pit lane

I'm finding it hard to believe there are no complaints about the half-a-job you get on an auto when you install RLTC.
it isn't half a job it's just a bit more work. on the 6 speed you can just rip everything out, butterfly, ecu the lot. just rubbing it in a bit
BTW, even turning the stock TC off doesn't turn it off fully
what do you mean? pressing the button to trac off will stop the trac throttle plate closing after wheel slip is detected.
I found a reference on here to a system from HKS that seemed to do the trick. I'll find the thread again when I get home.the thing i remember was a simple wiring thing, not a device as such.
-
How is RLTC if you forget to turn the stock system off?
both systems will try to work at the same time, so rltc will start to cut injector pulses and then stock trac will wade in late and shut power right down, as usual.
it won't cause any damage, except for when that hgv comes careering into the side of your car

Hi Nigel .. do you know if thre are any downsides (mechanically) to just turning it off everytime you go in it
there are non.
will it still mean the autobox makes harder gear shifts and potential long term damage ?removing trac fuse, trac butterfly or trac ecu will cause the gearbox problems.
martin, i'm sure there is something you can do to turn it off completely but maybe im mistaken. is there nothing on supraforums? i'll have a search around later on if i get time.
-
no idea mate, i'm sure it can't be too hard a job. you can always just press the button and turn it off in the meantime.
-
the consequences are harder gearshifts, more wear on the transmission. the traction butterfly works to reduce torque by momentarily reducing airflow on the gearshift.
you need to turn off stock trac control. if you can't be arsed to do this everytime you get in the car than there is some mod you can do to the switch (or wiring) that permenently turns it off but leaves everything else to work as it should. i don't know what the mod is but a quick search on supraforums or here should show it up.

the quality of quoting has plummeted in this thread

Not supposed to be childish.. Just keeping it real
I understand that people get attached to animals, Fine Ive had 2 dogs, but cats get run over ALL THE TIME Ive seen it happen about 15 times in my life.
The owner will know after a couple of days that its dead.. Most know if it decides not to turn up for its food. Its the price you pay for having an animal that is semi stray.
twat.
just keeping it real.

it's a myth that the jap turbos are weak, much better equipment if you ask me. overspin, overheat or have an impact on the blades it will result in the same outcome on both turbos, but with the jspec you have more torque earlier.
if all you want is a bit more top end then you may gain a little but i think it's just not worth it.

if one wishes to replace jspec turbos with UKs
