  1. Hey this is too weird - only a couple of weeks ago i got a Halfords touch-up stone-chip pack with "Toyota Red" but you're damn right it's too bright. I've got a "colur 3L2" Supra too. I rang my local Toyota dealer and they said it'll probably be a spray-can jobbie but should have the colour. Eric did you get your touch-up pen from TW Hawkins ?? and also, have you crashed that 750bhp NASCAR yet ? If not then get on with it ! ;-)
  2. Well (mainly for my karting) I've lost 17lbs this year so far (was 13st10 and now 12st7) so i guess this has chopped off 0.03secs on the 0-60 ! seriously though we all know what it feels like when you're carrying a passenger and luggage around. It's amazing how much slower and less nimble it makes the car. Actually in a turbo-car like the mkiv, i think that the car simply gives more boost as there's more weight to accelerate so you notice the extra weight less. maybe.. (ps. if anyone wants a copy of the Stu Hollows Diet Plan it's available for £19.95 !)
  3. Dean As you know i've got a UK car and have had zero problems with the NUR spec : no grounding, no overboost, no boost creep. (In fact the boost was still too *low* after the de-cat and NUR spec was fitted. so whacked on a bleed valve and it's quick now.) All to do with the turbo bypass system that the UK's are supposed to have, although i can't find anyone that can confirm that this is the case. the NUR makes a nice noise and i'm very happy with it. Last w/e I drove to Le Mans for the race with about 20 TVR's and i took the removable baffle out to try to compete in the noise stakes !! Incidentally the car held up very well performance-wise. I followed a guy in a 355 Spyder and on the exit of roundabouts, he initially got the jump due to his instant engine response, but after 2 or 3 seconds i was right with him. nice!
  4. Hi Dean you're readings seem about right. before i fitted bleed valve, i was getting about 0.8 - 0.9 bar maximum in 4th or 5th gear which is about same as you. Mine gives about -0.65bar at idle. not sure what that is in mmHG though.
  5. JB when you say "i can break traction when 2nd turbo comes on line", what gear are you in ? (I assume it's in the dry). and are you really running 1.45kg boost all the time ?? isn't aht about 20 or 21psi ? methinks that you're *trying* to blow up the stock turbos so you can get hybrids... I bet your stock turbos will stubbornly hang on in there for ages !! cheers
  6. Folks (apologies for slightly over-wordy post) my mkiv has (I believe) a suspension issue in that it feels distinctly unsettled and bouncy on exit of corners when attacked even *moderately*. I'm not talking 10/10ths driving here, but taking a corner (for example the exit of a largish roundabout) reasonably quickly. Basically the back end of the car feels as if it is bouncing as the power is applied. My diagnosis from the driving seat is that the rear dampers are either shot, or simply under-damped, as it feels they are failing to control the rear end from bouncing up and down as the rear end squats slightly as power is applied. Toyota and various others have said the dampers aren't leaking fluid. My car has had not too long ago a full optical suspension geometry alignment (just before i bought it) so i don't think it's that. Tyres are good, correct pressures etc. Car has always been like this since i bought it in August 2000, but it's starting to bother me and i want it fixed ! (although I am a bit reluctant to fit aftermarket suspension as it may lower the car too much) It's a UK Mkiv, only 46,000 miles, nicely treated etc. I simply don't know if all UK mkiv's are like this, or whether there is a problem with my car. Is it possible that (even though the dampers aren't leaking) that they have deteriorated sufficiently to cause this ? Is it possible that the springs have softened sufficiently to let the car bounce around ? Anyone else out there with a UK mkiv that has felt this ? Has anyone any other suggestions as to what it might be or things to check ? As i say, it feels to me like the rear of the car simply isn't damped properly (for whatever reason) which is letting it counce around and i have to let it sort itself out beofre re-applying power. Thanks in advance Stuart H. Uk mkivTT manual de-cat Blitz NUR bleed valve
