  1. Decided to give Sky a try as there recommended by the club. Not bought my TT Supra yet but was ringing round getting a few quotes. Cant remember who I was speaking to but I have never been spoken to so rudley about a quote. Firstly I explained my situation about using the Supra as a weekend toy and my current mx-5 as a daily. Didnt want to know and when I said can i get quote for the mx-5 on its own as I wanted to swap insurance, still no interest, seemed to me like I was wasting his time. At the end of all this Sky wouldnt insure me on a Supra and said in his words "get older", Im 25, 3 NCB, Ok postcode, paid member on here. Tried a few others, went with Footman James, £500 for multicar policy on classic insurance, mod friendly too. Wouldnt use Sky again and wont be recommending them either.
  2. Im thinking manual but id like have a go in an auto, problem is theres very few in the country to test drive and importing one id be committed to the purchase. Im from Sheffield so not far away.
  3. Drift bear thanks for offer but i want something abit tame for my first supra, will go bpu once ive got used it then go from there. Thanks for advice, will definatly go facelift as i want the lights and VVTi, will look on condition as i can swap to UK brakes with the rz-s model. Ive read up on auto vs manual, is the auto quicker in real terms or just 1/4 mile?
  4. Going to give JM a ring at weekend to get some advice./look for a car. Just looking at model differences, is it only brakes and LSD which are options between the RZ-S and RZ? Also what mileage am I looking at with this budget?
  5. Ive been lurking around here awhile, doing research, been out in a members car and now im finally ready to buy my first TT Supra. Insurance came up great through classical which I was suprised about and now im just seeing what I can get for my budget. Looking at a RZ model (98/99 for insurance reasons), would £12,000 be enough? No rare colours, just in white or black. If not maybe a decent RZ-S Auto model with the right options ticked? Not driven either transmissions but heard good things about the auto. Will be a weekend toy so thinking a manual maybe be more involving?
  6. After alot of research and asking around, Im finally going to sell up and get a Supra. In process of looking for insurance prices. Going to go up to squires next tue, so if you see a orange focus dont hate me , buying membership this weekend.
  7. Realised pms dont work, whats best way to contact you drew?
  8. When i come to buy one il use JM if i cant find one in the uk. Drew il pm you thanks.
  9. Thanks all i may pop along to a meet then and see some supras up close! Was looking at a company called JM Imports on fb, they always have alot of cars in just wondered if its worth using them or buy 1 already in the uk?
  10. Thanks for replies all, no kids or boot space required. Would love to go to a local meet but dont want to look silly turning up in a Ford. Anyone local to me? i know its a bit cheeky but il pay for fuel! Ive got a chance to go in a 650bhp TT but id rather go in a standard/BPU one as thats what il likely be getting. Another question, whats the differences between facelift and no facelift, plus is the vvti engine any different?
  11. Just joined up and thought id say hey. Joined up for some research and a look at the classifieds. Currently drive a Focus ST (320bhp) and want something more eventful and rwd/4wd. Loved Supras since i was young and now at nearly 25 i want to fufil that childhood dream before big commitments set in. Budget is around 8-10k, will be used as a daily (5k miles per year). Looking at TT6 manual which may be over budget but i wont dismiss an auto. Need to test drive both. Will eventually get the BPU and leave it at that or buy 1 with it. To be honest ive never really seen a Supra up close or been in one so thats the first thing i want to do. Just a few questions, mpg i get currently is around 20 with mostly town driving, am i looking at the same? Also what are they like to live with everyday? Thanks
