I would just start with simple stuff. Like you said you replaced the positive terminal, I would do the same for the earth and make sure the connections are nice and clean and tight. Check your fuses and earths to start with, then check connections are tight on plugs and wires are fully into plug connections before trying to chase wiring issues -
Just to confirm its the hooped bit a need. Should of explained more clearly. As the pic shows I have one and need one for the other side

Just halfords stuff mate. Gloss black and clear coat. Mine didn't have the rubber coating though

When I did mine I just scotch bright them and wiped down with a paint prep wipe, plastic primer and then built the paint up slowly later by layer.

Aquired a HKS FCD the other month getting ready for BPU and seeing bits and peices over the Internet people are saying they are abit crap so I managed to get my hands on a greddy BCC. Are these better? Cheers

Are TRD style bonnets ok in the rain on TTs? Would they let a lot of water in?

No as I don't think so. As I said when I sprayed the new idler pulley with wd40 the noise went

Just replaced my idler pulley with a Whifbitz one as it was making a noise like the bearings had gone but it still sounds the same. I know its idler as when the engine running and spray a bit of wd40 on it the noise goes. Does the Whifbitz one have to be fitted a certain way round. Has anyone got a part number for a belt to try and replace that?

Just out of intrest can it be fitted inline as a direct replacement for the OEM recirculation valve?

I bought a second ssqv, genuine one, came with the hanger etc just need a blank for the opposite side of where the ssqv fits. I've been to 3 garages and a spares shop and no one seems to know where to get one! Anyone got any ideas or a spare one knocking about?
