  2. Hiya Graham welcome mate, hope to see ya at a meet. (that pic if the Supras invading the garage is well good Ash he he)
  3. Soz for bein a dumb blonde but does Barry Boys mean they come from Barry South Wales?
  4. Hiya Missus Brain love da name.....you should make ya hubby walk n take da train, no what I'm saying.... Si
  5. Some great ideas, and forward moving attitude. It would of course be a bit ambitious to find the ideal person to mediate as it really does need someone with enough technical knowledge who has a bit of time I guess to make up for the technical shortfalls of some of the BBS members including myself. Though as much a questions person as an answers one I guess. If we had a second person also who was up on first line maintenance to eleveate the workload and deal with the minor problems maybe that would help too. I kind of see his/her role as someone who kicks in when all else fails, and we should all approach this person only when we have good reason to do so. This person would then approach the Trader Tuner and ask the questions and translate it on in private in an effort to smooth any misunderstangs between Trader/Customer. As I say only in extreme cases when EVERYTHING FAILS would appropriate action be taken , however I can't see it getting to that as this would act as a buffer, and the stream (if any) (or smoke he he) would be released in private. Extremely Extreme cases would result in them being asked to leave the BBS lock stock and (smoking turbos) until they have satisfied the Mediater that a settlement or amicable agreement has been met. and a simple notice of suspension posted possibly(no details) Now I know it all sounds a bit 'legal'ish' but the end results would benefit all, traders and tuners too, with no bad press or slagging matches. I guess you have to remember my antics from last year as a bit like an EXTREME pressure group...I'm New Green now! Edited: to fatten out a couple of sentences btw
  6. The last couple of posts are spot on. The point I was trying to make on earlier posts was to have a Mediator Person who would approach a Tuner on behalf of the board this way it wouldn't get to badmouthing at meets. Badmouthing at meets and events can be very damaging for a company especially if the peron who is badmouthing is exagerating the situation to an extent that would put a future customer off using someones services. It would be nice to have a technacally minded person who could contact the tuner on our behalf and transcribe exactley where things have gone wrong and if its a case of misunderstanding as it very often is, he can then put it to you in plain english. Also if the Mediator feels you have been unfairly treated he can badger the Tuner to put things right. A lot of it is misunderstanding though and the Tuning companies sometimes are not good at explaining things to none Techies. Only in the VERY worst scenarios would a company be removed from a LIST. Its not easy pleasing everyone I am sure and there are UNFAIR Customers as well as traders. But in most cases I'm sure its a lack of understanding on both sides of the coin. This pressure Valve or buffer system would eleviate bad mouthing and a lot of bad service. So if a Trader or a tuner or whatever is fairly competant why would they be worried because at the end of the day it would benefit them too, and safegaurd their livlihoods too. It would safe gaurd against future frauds and rogues too. Everyone gets a clean slate again, and the clock is set to zero...it can only be a good thing for everyone.
  7. Roy. that was a top post I agree a lot with what you are saying. I had a lot of mods at TDI, and some minor ones at JPS. but not on the scale of Jason, and it seems he is well happy with everything that has been done, and it does look very good, I'm happy for him too that everything has gone well for him. Its nice to know Leon has done such a top qaulity job on both his and your car Roy. Paul I think thats very ambitious when you mention Majority, Have you carried out a survey? You should come to a Meet sometime and meet the other Supra owners we don't bite he he. I still stick behind the idea to have a safegaurd for people if you see my earlier posts, it would benefit the Tuning companies in a way too if it was set up right and everyone would get a clean slate. Everybody fooks up, but it depends on the degree of how they fook up and what they do to put it right. Suckin up dosn't work I should know I tried that, been there done that....dosn't work....and if someone has an underlying predujice against you for some reason!! no suckin up in the world will make them do things right for you...know what I'm saying! People Power!!! Where is it on here?
  8. Roy...soz there is one thing I'd like to add I am onto my third Supra I am by no-means new 8 years of Supras. My first being a UK spec. I have had my fair share of dealings. I have nothing to gain by denouncing a company for the fun of it, If someone asks me I tell them. because I'm Honest, I dont have a criminal record and I earn my money honestly. I dont give a shit, its not my money thats being spent (thank god) There are a lot of frightened scared people who are so terrified to stand up for themselves .......I'm not one of them. If I get appalling service or whatever I'll let the next man know, doesn't mean the same will happen to him but its my right to be able to tell it like it is! 2004 has been good so far been pleased with everything done so far, had probs with HID's but they are being sorted and I'm the only one whos had this prob, and the person who sold me them has actually phoned ME several times to sort it out. I've had no major mechanical work done, still got the boost prob but don't trust anyone to look at it, because the last time this happened I paid for some fresh air!!! Lets face it NO-ones going to slag any tuner trader off on here, they'll just keep it to themselves and then tell us all about it at the meets as they often do, thats the only way we get to find out these days. Anyway....Good Luck lol
  9. Whhops edited he he... Dont worry I aint said anything bad against any con merchants he he my lips are shut just asked Roy about something hed already answered in a previous post... phewww lol
  10. It appears we all have our own experiences depending on what we have done and with whom. I do notice that some of the tuners have different levels of qaulity depending on how much you spend, this was said of a well known Tuning House 'East Of London' and I found this to be true. they all have their niche, and I think the problem arises if you goto someone who is more specialised in full engine rebuilds, and mods worth more than £5k to have something like brake pads replaced or whatever. Because in most cases we push the boundaries out with our engine performance, when things do go wrong, It is more scientific Developement than just simple tuning in some cases so trial and error is involved and often a bottemless pit in which to throw your hard earned cash. Though it looks like the tide is changing on some shores...which is excellent news. credit where credit is due. I still think we need a qaulity control system as almost all Tuning shops have extremely conflicting reports in most cases. I do find that the more you spend (£5k +) the more they are likely to get things spot on. Money talks. But not everyone can afford to throw a lot of dosh in a one off athletic attempt with most of us its a gradual process, we end up spending as much but it takes a little longer....we are the people who get the bad service, Pound per power! so therefore don't get the same entusiastic attention and qaulity (thats putting it very mildly)
  11. Top post Syed. I mean I see it as a kind of shared Customer service dept run by the BBS, that comes into play when things go badly wrong. We all hear bad mouthing at meets and it happens because there is no pressure valve. This would help remove that element, and we would have a better understanding of each other. People like Matt Harwood have nothing to fear he is a Saint (I say that without a brown tongue lol) some of the others will have to shape up or ship out which would improve things for everyone, including the Tradesmen if they are honest.
  12. Matt...we are talking about worse case scenarios. I agree with what you are saying though, but this is where the Mediator would come in to judge the situation and approach the company on behalf of the BBS people to try to make peace between the two parties, it should only be in cases that are extrememly bad that the company would be removed. and I also think garages and Traders equally need protecting from unfair gossip if its not true or if they have tried to put things right. AND I think every company should get a clean slate on the understanding that they abide by the requiremnts to trade fairly for the members of the BBS. It should be a fair system where both Trader and Customers could benefit...
  13. Yep that sounds good. I think it has to be carefully thought out legally. But the really dodgy garages it dosn't matter so much the evidence speaks for itself, but guess if someone challenged a Toyota franchise it could be messy. I just think a list and a three strikes and out if the problems are not settled within a period of time kind of thing. I can also see the other side of the coin though, its also someones livlihood so if anything is said that is unfair it should work both ways I guess, though I think that is rare in my experience so far. but at the end of the day we all have our own gripe or bad or good experience its a shame we cant help others with the advice without upsetting their sinister promotions departments!!!
  14. Yeah and dont go to Matt Harwood he's well dodgy I'm seriously joking if there is one person everyone agrees on as being not only top notch with his skillful technicians Mark and Simon its MR NICE Matt Harwood. but he dont service cars, though he does do other things like RLTC guages and anything ICE. The best. Now wheres that backhander Matt?
  15. totally agree..Syed we need a fair system on here to protect people, where everyone gets a clean slate until they fook up then we take them off the list..with a Mediator as I mentioned before. This BBS is a powerful machine, it should be on the side of the punters. This would make the £10 worth it certainly, infact I would be prepaired to pay £15 if I knew I would save money in the long run.
  16. Just to add to that without editing my last post...its fair to say it depends what you are having done, I have found over the years that some companies are better at doing some things and crap at other things. Also make sure you know who is actually working on your car....Toyota technicians have at least 7 years mechanical experience I have been told, so if a 17 yr old with little or no experience is working on ya car...walk away...and take ya car.
  17. eeeerrrmmmm ehhhhhh ehhhhh..yep be VERY careful who you goto to get your car worked on tbh its MUCH safer to stick with Toyota...until you have been to some meets and asked a few about who is good. There are some nightmare stories LOTS of them I'm sure some will tell you. I have owned MKiv Supras for 8 years. I KNOW.... PLEASE use Toyota main dealership for general servicing. McCarthy's are said to be ok in Croyden. I have been to Pinewood in Streatham and they are okish DO NOT Use aftermarket companies until you have randomly asked at least 10 people who have used a particular company then weigh up the odds from that...as I fell flat on my face so just trying to save you without spelling out names....though there have been some major improvements I been told. Stick to Toyota till you know the score the waters are full of sharks. THIS IS THE BEST PEICE OF ADVICE YOU WILL GET ON THIS BOARD. You will also get people who will mention names on the BBS sayiing they are good , I fell for this, ask people face to face its better, no-one will say anything bad on here because of reprocussions etc Good luck and welcome to the Supra World !!!
  18. Donde es dan los servicio por favor? (feeling a bit green)
  19. depends which frock I decide to wear, I could borrow one of yours I spose. Seriously great idea.....ogh and if ya do go Ash remember its an airfield so put ya landing lights on . Oh god I'm in Soooo much trouble again...Si is being v naughty on da bbs again. I promise to be a good boy from now on. Have a really great day gals, take some pics for us. :innocent:
  20. funny I heard that Texeco was supposed to be the best some years ago and a friend who worked in the Oily Industry gave me some reseans but cant remember what they were. I do find their Super is v expensive though compared to Optimax. It would be really good if a Car programme did a proper test, or a mag, and actually measured them up against each other.
  21. ........And If its not loud enough to annoy the neighbours, then take the baffle out. If you havent had the cats out, then taking the baffle out shouldn't make it unbearably loud but will give it a nicer growl on your particular exhaust (and you can piut it back in if its too loud) I took the baffle out on my Blitz Nur and have one decat pipe and it makes most of its niose at higher revs. its not too loud in my street if a start it in the middle of the night.....well I have only had one complaint when I left it idling for 30 mins at 12pm, I wrote him an apologetic letter the next day...and he was fine.... The letter did the trick...as it wasn't really the exhaust that annoyed him, you know the scenario. keepin up with the jones's n all that
  22. Great shame I missed this one this would of been my third. and it would of been the best by the looks of things. Really great pics everyone, I'm well gutted now.
  23. What happened ?, you cant tell us about a dodgy car mat co then go all quiet. I need some new mats but I want the original import mats with the chrome Supra logo, they are the nuts...but noone seems to know where to get them. I already have a pair but they are getting worn. Obviously someone is worried about legal implications if you do spill the beanz so I won't ask, or maybe you have settled the score. But ALWAYS good to let others know in someway if someone has ripped you off and shut the door in your face afterwards. In someways if the dealers know we talk to each other it helps them provide a better service, and in the long run they become more successful as a result. There are about TWO people on here who don't agree with me they are sadly the minority though. I still think it would be good to have a Mediator on here who we can approach if things go wrong and that person could approach the company in question on behalf of MKiv Supras, and then none of this gets posted, and if the company in question dosn't give a satisfactory result then everyone gets a PM outlining the situation. Maybe if theres someone with a bit of legal experience they could volenteer to be that person....just an idea. At the end of the day noone would be unhappy Traders or punters I'm sure..it would certainly improve things IMO.
  24. Soz its my poor sence of humour, I have a Mountain bike, though its been shut in the shed for several years I used to love cycling along the towpath of the Thames between Shepperton and Richmond, and I used to go to the Gym. ........Then I started smoking again and bought a Supra and it went downhill from then on. I seriously used to use the pavement and the towpath, Roads are for cars and I often see cyclists using roads even when there is a cycle path, I really think cycling on a main road is dangerous, especially when there are Supras around he he Then there are those ones in the West End (the couriers) have they got a screw missing or something, they have total disregard for pedestrians and people who use the roads. As I said to one of em once who was coming out with loads of shit about Car drivers being arsholes. "whos going to pay for the ambulance that scrapes you off the ground and takes you to hospital. ME the one who smokes and drives a Supra. Cycle lanes are for cyclists...roads are for cars. (said with a cheeky grin though) Edited: to say that I am talking about hardcore cyclists the ones that wear the red lycra shorts (that makes ya bum look like two slices of Edam) and those nerdy helmets.
