  1. Had a good road test this afternoon and something else cropped up. The n/a rear suspension started knocking like hell on even the smallest of bumps in the road. Odd considering I just fitted a used oem strut to that side! Got a pic looks like a leaking strut? Fluid of some sort is sprayed all over the lower arch liner to not my day. Ps brakes feel fine and fluid level is ok so I'm kind of ruling that out
  2. Ok another update: job done! I probably went a bit over kill removing the throttle body etc but at least I know how to do my plugs now. I checked the plugs and they are very new so no point in changing them just yet. Nipped up the cam cover bolts a 10th of a turn if that so will see if that helps in the short term. Cheers again for the help! Mike
  3. Cheers Chris, I have taken the throttle body off now. I hadn't noticed 2 bolts on a steel bracket that were stopping it from sliding. I have cleaned everything up as much as possible and will now leave it over night with rags stuffed in every gap to absorb water as it's not to dark to work. Plugs haven't been removed yet but I will tomorrow, may as well replace them after all this. I will also give the cam cover a nip up to try and stop that leak. Does the rotor arm look ok on the above pic? A little corrosion on the end.
  4. Ok update: I've had a better look and it seems the water has crept in from the cylinder 1 side. It's quite bad just take a look for yourself so I've removed the air intake and plugs etc from the throttle body. After in doing the bolts I can seem to slide it out, shall I force it? Don't want to break anything. Some other pics I took.
  5. Is the throttle body gasket only available from toyota? No motor factors round here seem to carry it.
  6. Cheers that's exactly what I was after
  7. Ok I'll tread carefully and give this a go tomorrow morning
  8. Do you know the torque settings for the bolts?
  9. Looked for a write up on here bit couldn't find one for the N/A
  10. Yeah, I don't like messing around near the throttle body when I haven't done it before or know what I'm doing.
  11. And while I have your attention, how should I go about removing the manifold ( GE engine )
  12. Ok seems the prediction of spark plug wells was correct! Some images I took this afternoon. You guys agree?
  13. I haven't had a look yet to be honest. Since buying the car in January I've mainly focused on suspension and minor cosmetic stuff. I'll have a look, if nothing else give them a good clean
  14. Cheers guys. Got a day off work tomorrow to do this, I'm not worried about doing any work on the car after all that is how you learn. Just don't want to go messing around near the throttle body without already a point in the right direction. Also I was going to do the plugs next month anyway.
  15. Can anyone point me in the direction of a thread detailing a spark plug change or similar?
  16. I'm going to have to strip off that manifold arrangement, god damn it
  17. Right I'll give it a go, don't know if I'm working away this week so might to be next weekend. Would the issue escalate if it was left sitting like this you think?
  18. Really in need of some advice, a friend hosed down my engine bay today with this really good degreaser. The dizzy and air filter were bagged off. It ran perfect after until now it is misfiring and generally running rough. All 6 fire when the revs pick up and will sometimes drop to 5 at high revs, I've never had a car with a distributor before so really just guessing to be honest. Mike
  19. FYI I already have Achilles sports on the rear and hate them in the wet! Dry I haven't slid much at all but remember I have an NA. For wet driving I find them lethal
  20. I need 265 35 18 & 235 40 18
  21. doing my anti roll bar bushes at the same time and will get geometry checked then, also 2 rear bearings going in should be pretty good after everything handling wise. The Vredestiens are 146 quid which given the recommendations seems good! 1 thing I am in need off is a Off side rear j-spec caliper in good condition if anyone knows of one going or even a pair? Cheers
  22. cheers for all the replys, seems Vredestiens get a good name! I have some sort of budget tyres on the car just now which were put on for me buying it and I spin up more than I dont with them sometimes on purpose, but realistically I dont want it to be tail happy really keen on a grip set up.
  23. Interested to see what tyres you guys are using, I am going on a 700 mile road trip in June round some of the best roads in Scotland including the applecross and having no traction control I really need to get my tyre choice spot on. I have been looking at Advan sport's so something in that price range. Mike
  24. Does anyone still have a stock sub/ amp? Would love to to see what they look like. also interested in custom tasteful boot installs.
