When I got my renewal through from Sky I was unhappy with how much they wanted so I phoned up A-Plan for a quote. A-Plan quoted a couple of hundred less so I phoned Sky back and they agreed to match the price so I stayed with Sky. They do seem to be very good for modified Jap cars, I have a couple of friends with modified Lexi that use them.

My town (Reading) is one of the towns that have applied to trial the road pricing scheme so I am fearing the worst. I would not mind if the money was going to be spent on improving the road systems in this country but it won't be. What really gets my goat is that the government lets millions of people come over here from overseas and then complains that the country's roads are clogging up and we all have to pay extra for the right to use those roads. It was there bloody decision to try and cram too many people onto this little island. I'm sure I read somewhere that although car ownership has increased in this country over the past 20 years, the actual number of driving licence holders in this country has not. We can only drive one car at a time so it's not the number of cars on the road causing the congestion it's the bus lanes, roundabouts, pedestrian free zones, traffic lights and speed calming measures that are slowing down the flow of traffic. It's just spin by the government to make more money for themselves and has nothing to do with actually solving any problems. Rant Over.

These stealth paint jobs are getting very effective.

Out of interest, I was stopped by a guy at a Petrol Station in Newbury about 3 weeks back who was asking a lot of questions about the Supra. The guy in question said he was thinking of swapping his Merc for a Supra, was it yourself. I was driving the white auto. I think you will find that the Supra is excellent for eating up the miles especially with regards to reliability. My only concern is that the Supra would not be as refined as you have come to expect from your Merc. It is a sports coupe so the ride is a little harder and you hear the engine more (but it is a lovely sound when you extend it). My advice would be to try one out and see what you think. I think you will be impressed by the performance if nothing else.

I've read about the after market radiators needing electric fans fitting for the autobox oil cooling and to be honest you can see the mess I made of doing a simple job of changing a hose. I really just want to keep it as simple as possible and swap like for like. I was expecting around the £300 mark so Gaz I think I will be on the phone to you on Tuesday (assuming you are closed for business until then due to the bank holiday)

I have managed to break the radiator on my 1994 Auto Twin Turbo Supra. I was fitting a new metal upper radiator hose to replace the old sagging rubber hose and have somehow managed to crack the plastic collar on the radiator that the hose connects to. The plastic collar seems to have crumbled, I can only assume that I have been completely hamfisted and overtightened the jubilee clip. I now need to find a replacement radiator. I don't want to get an aftermarket radiator, so does anyone know if you can still get the radiators from Toyota and how much they ask for them? Alternatively does anyone know of anywhere in the Reading\Berkshire area that is likely to supply a reconditioned unit for a supra?

Strangely enough I came over all "I'm too old to be driving a car like this" yesterday. I think it was looking at the video of the Jap Meet at the Ace Cafe somewhere else on this site. I just kept thinking, kids eh. I then started looking at Jags on autotrader and found a cracking looking XJR for around the right price. Mentioned the XJR a couple of times to the wife last night and no go. She did point out that most blokes of my age (43, ouch!)would love a car like a supra but are so buried under kids and debt that they can't own one or can't afford to run one properly. The XJR did look a bit tasty though.

I rarely miss England games but I've missed the last three games due to other commitments. I am actually in this evening and am looking forward to seeing exactly how bad the team have become. From reports it sounds as if Lampard is out of it tonight (broken wrist) so we may finally have someone in central midfield who can score at international level.

To be honest a lot of people use running down a car as there method of negotiating the price. I am not convinced that it works and probably just winds the person up who is selling. My sister in law was selling a ford focus last summer and some guy turned up, looked over it, spent 1/ 2 hour telling her how crap the car was then offered her £500 below her asking price. She turned around and said there was no way she was going to sell her car to a horrible person like him and turned around and walked away. You are right about the car dealers coming out with BS to bring the P\ex price down but when the guy offered me a price I genuinely believe that he had no idea what the car even was until I told him. More ignorance than BS.

I know this won't be well liked but if a dealer offered me 6k for my TT auto I would take it. I looked into p/ex my 1994 TT auto against a £10K 3.0 X-type back in December. The guy asked how much I was looking for it and I said £5.5k (I think the book price is about £5k). The guy said that nobody wants these this type of car anymore and that it is impossible to insure them. He then rang around a few other dealers and said the most he could offer me was £1.5K. Didn't really want the Jag anyway.

I would be interested if a group buy gets put together. I have one of the power boost valves and had troubles with it leaking last summer. I stopped the leaks by tightening all the screws up on the valve but the car has not felt right since and I would feel with a better make of fuel pressure regulator in there.

The market is very slow at the moment, I've had my TT auto with a similar spec and mileage up for sale on Ebay and in the trader for the past two weeks for 8k and not had any interest at all. I have been watching prices of other supras on Ebay and saw one auto TT in Scotland with similar mileage go for £5100. I have given up hope of selling at this stage and am going to try around a few garages this week to see what I can get P\Ex against something else.

The time has come for me to sell my 1994 TT supra auto and buy something more economical to run. I have been the proud owner of this car for the past 4 years since having it imported from Japan and it has been an absolute joy to own and drive. The car has done 77,000 miles, has a full service history (although a lot of it is in japanesse) and is fitted with a Bomex front lip spoiler, mines ECU and Blitz Nur Spec Stainless steel exhaust. The car has been lightly modified using the following items:- 18" Oz racing alloy wheels (pictures taken before these were fitted) Uprated fuel pump 1st Cat removed Apexi SAFC II FSE Power Boost Valve Apexi Boost Gauge Racelogic Traction Control El Glo Blue Dial Conversion (All engine modifications completed by JPS in Milton Keynes) The car also has an expensive (over £2500 when fitted when I first got the car) top notch professionally fitted audio system. The bodywork of the car is in excellent condition and never fails to turn heads with it's shiny bright white paint work. I am looking for £7500 (the car will be going on autotrader website at £8000 next week) which I admit is a little higher than most supra's of this age are currently going for however the car really is in exceptional condition and fully justifies the price. For further details please contact me on 07798 626307 or via e-mail on [email protected].

I very rarely get to go to the Reading Jap Car Meet despite working next door to the site where it is held. The meet always seems to fall on days when I have something else arranged and i don't think I got to any of them this summer.

My car has an HKS Oil Tempature Gauge fitted and the gauge has gone faulty. As soon as I switch on the ignition the gauge goes straight upto the maximum. The engine tempature is showing as normal and the car is running fine so I have no reason to believe that there is a problem other than the gauge or it's wire being faulty. The gauge gets it's reading from a sensor plugged into the sump drain plug. I think that the fault is with the sensor or the wiring (I have checked the wiring and cannot see any breaks or areas that would be shorting out anywhere). Is it still possible to buy these gauges or maybe just the wiring and sensor and if so where from?

The wife always gets worried when I start making hand gestures to other drivers. Actually my wife has been telling me about a British Racing Green Supra driving around Reading for several months now (I'm a Jag fan at heart). I must admit to having never seen a green supra before so assumed that she was confusing it for another car. As we came around the corner she shouted there it is. Is that an original Toyota colour and if so what is it called (I'm assuming that it was not British Racing Green)?

I love a good comedy and am a big music fan so my choice would probably have to be The Commitments.

I got a complete set of 18" F1's a couple of weeks ago and got mine from Burghfield Tyres. I checked the prices of Micheldever, Mytyres.net and black circles.com but all worked out more expensive.

I'm not a Pompey fan but have to admit that there defence looked excellent last night. Especially the Royals old Boy Linvoy Primus. Along with Sol and Stefanavich they looked really solid. They look as if they might upset a few of the bigger teams this season.
-
Lifelong Royals fan here and I couldn't be much happier today. First game in the premiership, give the visitors a 2-0 headstart and still manage to win. Think we may have been a little with Viduka's off-side decision though.

I quite like them. My supra has the wood effect trim but I was thinking of changing it. How much of a mess is the dash once the old wood trim has been removed? Would be very interested in one of these kits once you get them in.

Badges now fitted and looking fine. Thanks for the advice re fitting.
