  1. I had an import for a while, I was with AA for the first year, 21, 2yrs NCB I think I paid about £800 possibly even TPF&T Then they tried to double it at renewal time (couldnt give me a reason why), and went with adrian flux on a limited milage policy as I had a company car by then. That was about £800 again, but with no NCB as was being used on the company car. I dont know what it is about MX5s that makes them so expensive to insure, but you should be better of with a UK car. I miss mine when the suns out:taped:
  2. So far, global credit terrorism change has only meant slightly cheaper fuel for me. My rent hasnt gone up and gas/leccy/phone and food have not been increases i have noticed. Im in a modest paying job, so im not just too rich to notice. However, now that its official i shall have to only fill the supra up halfway every fill up, in order to save weight to get better mileage.
  3. I have a ceed as my company car, and it really is very un-offensive to the eye. as a car its not great, but its also not bad at all. its a car, everything on it works and it goes. its not fast but its not slow. in fact ive never felt so indifferent towards a car.
  4. Good call, I remember reading that now. Sealed lead acid gives off something like hydrogen. Though I would have thought the chances of there being enough to explode from connection sparks, probably about the same chances of blowing up a petrol station with your mobile, but doesnt seem worth risking it
  5. I think the idea behind letting the batteries equalise for a few mins is to help stop putting too much current down the jump leads - melting them. I also reckon the AA say not to use the -ve point on the battery as its close to the +ve terminal and if you miss with the leads and melt things together you might blame them. Since any earth point is connected to the battery anyway, i dont see why you shouldnt just go straight to source?!
  6. Im well up for another meet sometime, but I think I might have to wait untill after christmas now.
  7. yeah, Il have to remember the gloves and scarf for the next one I think! Was good to finally see some other supras and meet those that braved the match day traffic! Maybe we can make the next one at a pub with a big log fire?!
  8. Il be going whatever happens - I have nothing else to do this afternoon Sounds like there should be plenty of places about to grab a cup of tea or coffee if its still miserable out.
  9. on that note - anyone up for convoy from soton- eg: eastbound Rownhams services or something? or is that more effort than its worth? Im assuming im not the only one coming from that direction
  10. I got a copy cut for the supra yesterday at the local locksmiths with no questions asked, other than "what car is it for".

  15. Thanks for the welcome. Not got any major plans in the works fer it at the mo - being the optimist i am, im planning on using this one as a stepping stone to a TT in a few years time once ive built up some more no claims! Already done the stereo (so i can listen to something other than radio2 now) and started to swap a few bulbs over for LEDs in my never ending quest to rid my world of incandescent light. Will then maybe stick some 21" rims on, lower the car by about 6-14 inches and glue on a custom foamex body kit.
  16. Hello all Ive been lurking around here for a few months now and reckon its about time I show my face! Just got my first supra about 6 weeks ago, and im still in the honeymoon period - looking for any excuses to drive it somewhere. Its a '95 na auto, freshly imported. I did my part contributing to credit crunch to get it, mainly beacuse i was tired of driving my boring kia ce'ed company car! Had a mk1 mazda Eunos last year which got me into RWD jap toys so now i feel like im growing up Will be looking to join in at some meets soon which should give me the motivation to tidy the car up a bit as it needs it in places! Anyway - heres a couple of pics my brother took as i was putting the deposit down on it http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll235/arglespd/Supra/DSC00015.jpg http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll235/arglespd/Supra/DSC00013.jpg Pete
