  6. Hi People, Since I ever came across the Supra I always wanted to get an aero-top and to turn it into a fun summer car and occasional track day car. After some initial posts I made on ideas on what kind of direction to go in with the work on the car I've started to think more and more that I really want a track day car, in which case it might make more sense to go for a TT 6 Speed hardtop w/out spending all that money converting the aero top and welding/strengthening it etc. yeah, I'll miss out on all the lovely open air driving in summer, and to be honest I'm not really sure that I've made up my mind yet, but meanwhile I just wanted to gauge interest, is there anyone out there with a TT 6 Speed who is looking for an NA Aerotop Auto? I would probably be looking to go for an exchange adding about 1-2,000 cash to the deal and i'm in no real rush. My aero top has done 93,000 Miles, is in mechanically good condition, bodywork is pretty good too apart from some stonechips etc (I can prepare some close up shots). Here is a picture at Tynemouth near a friend I was visiting at the weekend: http://www.alex-roan.net/supraI.jpg Links to more shots: http://www.alex-roan.net/supraII.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/supraIII.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/supraIV.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/supraV.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/supraVI.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/supraVII.jpg It might not be a GZ, i need to check, but it has leather seats? As I said, I may still keep it and go for the 6 Speed TT conversion, just wanted to gauge interest while i'm thinking about it. Edit... as i'm going for a track day car and i will be working on it I'll consider something with worn interior / not great condition on the exterior etc.
  7. Hey People, Just wanted to thank you all for your posts. I'm not gonna do any quotes or specific replies, because to be honest there's lot's of great stuff and plenty to think about for me. I got loads of thoughts from you that are different from those by friends and family and a bit closer to my perspective & none that I can give a worthy reply in a few lines. I've at least come to one decision to move back up to Scotland from London and also to leave my current consulting job - handed in my notice I'm going to either find better work or at least find another job up North where I have more spare time to do some hobbies (hopefully to get something sorted our for a bit of track day action). Thanks again for the replies and comments, helping motivate me to get of my ass and do stuff Alex
  8. Right.. looking for some personal life advice.. Oh and why ask here (might seem a bit strange)?, But I've been in the club about a month now, you all seem like a good bunch of people, and assuming there are some like minded 'car nuts' here I thought you might be able to give me some different advice from my friends, family etc. Basically I am 29, I used to work on classic cars as a hobby when I was in School in my spare time, my first car was a 1969 Riley 4/72 that I partly restored for passing my test, also used to run around in random cars on the farms and forest tracks in the highlands when I was around fourteen with a friend (used to love it so much). After that I went to Uni, and although I studied Engineering money / space didn't really give me the chance to have a car, following that I started a job in IT, basically because it pays really well and there are lot's of jobs (yeah - so I sold out!). So I've been working about seven years as an IT manager, on the upside I earn a lot (worked for Procter & Gamble & Accenture), on the downside my job really sucks, I spend all day working with powerpoint, excel and MS project and this IT stuff that I do with what they call ERP applications is seriously boring... In the modern world with all these desk jobs sometimes it's really hard to feel like a real man lol Sometimes I wish i had a job where I work with my hands, anything from working outdoors somewhere through to say re-building engines would be just so much more fun. When I see some of the traders websites here like Envy I am pretty impressed that some of the guys out there have started and made these business successful, must be amazing! But I imagine a lot of hard work, I'm sure it beats desk jobs by a mile though.. So, to my fellow car/engine/speed nuts, I was wondering does anybody else have a desk job and feel a bit the same and I wanted to throw the question out there on career change advice, what would be a good way to get into tuning / motorsport at my age?? bit of a random thread... feel free to laugh, agree, disagree or give some advice
  9. Hey, Saw a silver one with what looked like a veilside rear wing pull into the first set of services after the start of the M1 yesterday between three and four pm, i was a few hundred metres back. Saw another silver one overtake me in the outside lane about an hour later still heading North on the M1. Second one looked more stock.
  10. hmm the car i have with work is a 3.0 TDI Q7 and it moves quite a bit faster than the N/A Supra off the line and weighs a hell of a lot more. I think the same engine goes into the new A5?? If that was put in a Supra it would be seriously quick... not too noisy either with some extra insulation i suppose. Still, the whole concept just seems wrong somehow
  11. I only joined recently, and had already bought mine, but after spending some time on the forum looking at the cars for sales and peoples comments about the traders I would in retrospect have probably bought from JM Imports, Whifbitz or one of the club owners cars... just search around here or send JM the spec you want and price you can spend.
  12. haha, i'd missed that, just looked it up on youtube.. priceless.. loving Clarkson, "If he is dead and you fancy a job on top gear write to us at 'I think I'm better than Richard Hammond.. was'
  13. Just got this from e-mail from Nissan (just by registering interest), what do you reckon - will they be taking names for the buyers list at the show? Dear Mr. Roan, The 78th International Geneva Motor Show is going to go down in the history books. From 6 to 16 March, Europe will get its very first glimpse of the brand new Nissan GT-R - the car that redefines high-performance driving. As a VIP guest, we are inviting you to our exclusive GT-R VIP lounge. This will be a unique opportunity to see and feel the GT-R for yourself, in a dedicated sports car atmosphere, on our stand. To get the best out of your invitation, please follow the instructions at the bottom of the email and print out your free entry ticket to the Motorshow and your VIP GT-R lounge pass. We hope to see you there. It’s not every day you get a chance to see history in the making. Mr Paul Willcox Vice President, Strategy & Marketing Nissan International SA GT-R
  14. oo.. how about a favourite TG moments thread... it has to be when the put the Hilux on that building being demolished for me
  15. Just saw a re-run of top gear on Dave where Paul McKenna hypnotised the Hamster and made him believe a kids toy pedal Porsche was his, they made him test drive it round the studio (i.e. pedal) and then Clarkson crashed into it in a toy Jeep.. Funniest thing I've seen all week... top gear re-runs are just great
  16. possibly sold, holding them for someone who just needs to check the cost to have them collected and delivered. Will update here shortly if sold / available again.
  17. Hi, I have cleaned all four wheels up, they are actually in quite good condition apart from the centre caps that are more worn. One of the wheels has a small mark in the rim and a few light scrapes, other than that they look pretty good: http://www.alex-roan.net/bbs15.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/bbs13.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/bbs12.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/bbs11.jpg http://www.alex-roan.net/bbs10.jpg
  18. Hey ! Don't be taking the piss out of my steering wheel !! it was like that when i bought it and i kinda like it.. & don't be associating me with that wooden dash either gggrrrr

  20. I had extreme pain once when i was a student, went to the dental school hospital in glasgow (the only place i could find on short notice) and I was in severe pain. They had to drill one out and do root canal treatment (which is sorting out the nerve endings). To cut a long story short, the student doing it asked me if I wanted it numb'd, trying to be a tough guy I said, nah just go ahead and do the root canal i'll be ok. About thirty minutes later they were finished and I'd just gone through the most painful 30 minutes of my life... My current dentist since told me it should never be done w/out being numb'd first ! hmm... they call it school for a good reason.. it is a cheap option, but you know what they say - 'no pain, no gain'
  21. Come on guys, must be some use to someone, I don't really have space to store them.. here is one cleaned up: If you are potentially interested pm me and i could clean up the others / check them for marks etc. http://www.alex-roan.net/BBS7.jpg
  22. Maybe my website went down, it's hosted by fasthosts, i don't use it much so not sure what the availability is like?? probably that was it..
