It's still there, I knew there was something I forgot to mention !!!. It's not as if being a passenger in a Supra isn't bad enough at best of times eh . Oh and how about the Skyline with the painted over sellotaped up (I kid you not !!) front spoiler repair !!!!.
-
Did you see the yellow 300zx when you were there ?. It's still making me giggle to myself now just thinking about it !!.

I took a trip down there today with a Mechanic friend of mine after seeing on their website that they had a few Skylines going cheap(ish) one of which looked q nice. I gave them a call and spoke to one of the guys there about the car and he was pretty helpfull to be honest and when I asked about its condition bodywork wise told me that the front spoiler "could probably do with a bit of paint" but other than that the car was "101%". As soon as I got there I saw the car in question and even from 50 yards in the pissing rain it was clear that it was more like 51% that 101% with the car being tatty all round. The front spoiler if anything needing removing, repairing, repainting and refitting such was the shabby state of it's fitment / finish. A few cars further along there was another Skyline and this one had the entire left front of its spoiler swinging freely in the wind !!. Moving inside we started to look around the pricier and supposedly better cars and most (with the exception of a few nice EVOs) were really tatty to say the least. Some had mismatched tyres and of the ones which were unlocked nearly all of them had exposed wires from badly fitted / removed extras / guages, interiors on most were also heavily worn /damaged especially taking into consideration the low recorded millages. All in all a bit of a dissapointing / wasted journey which if anything only served me any pleasure in making my Supra look immaculate in every way and going by their pricing policy is probably worth about £30k !!.

Nice figures, have you got a copy of the printout you can post up here so we can see the curves.

Works just fine for me...............................NOT

"BIRK !!!!", "FEEEEEEEED MEEEEEEEE". Trapdoor was ACE !!!!
-
Could you post up on here how much they charged you when it's done as mine went ages ago and I'd like to get a rough idea of what I should be paying.
-
Bit of a long shot but if you find youself / can be bothered coming ooop norf then you're more than welcome to come for a (hopefully not literal !) spin in mine. Personally I value the CW suspension that I haf fitted to mine as the biggest real world improvement in all round performance available as it improves the car in many more ways than just cornering. Took McCanny for a go in it one night and here are his thoughts: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=17273&highlight=womble Granted it's not cheap but trust me it does the job superbly.

Nick, sorry mate but as you suspected the mail was too big for the pics to go throught (had a mail saying so). And Jake thanks for the link but I still haven't got a clue as to how to reduce them (told you I was crap !!) A friend of mine that sorts out all my computer woes (keeps him busy) should be round on Sat / Sun so I'll get him to show me how resize them as some of the pics are really q good and this isn't the 1st time I've had problems with sizing so I could really do with learning how to get them sorted.
-
Very nice Nick, very nice indeed. I've always been a fan of the 748 it's "revier" nature apeals to me more than the 916s (well 999 now). I've mailed you some pics but they amy be too big as some of them are 2meg (eek !!). Jake any idea (please bear in mind that I'm REALLY crap with computers) as to how to reduce the size of them so I can post some up here / on that site you mentioned ?.

It really does look great in the flesh doesn't it. I'll be sorting through the photo's I've got a little latter and I'll mail them to you then. What Ducati have you got ?.

No not a dealer, I just entered a competition on Yamaha's web site to win the bike and although I didn't win it I did the get put into a prize draw to go to Africa to ride it. There were 10 of us in all from all over Europe and none of us even believed Yamaha at 1st when they rang to tell us, I'd totally forgotten about it. With regards to it being easy to wheelie I too thought that would be the case but in actual fact it's really q hard to get the front end up (and believe me it wasn't for lack of trying:) ), one of the main reasons for this is the particularly long swing arm which is closley based on the R1s (and the moto gp bike for that matter), along with the long wheelbase (1525mm / GSXR1000 1410mm) and also the weight of the thing (at 240kg dry you'd best watch your back / call some friends if you drop it !!). They've done a great job of damping out the high frequency vibrations with most components rubber mounted whilst still allowing you to feel the engine thump away when ridden. Chain wear probably will be a bit higher than most sports bikes due to the mega torque (which incidently is what the MT part of the name stands for) and I'd say a Scott Oiler would be a good idea for most people. Shaft drive adds alot of weight / expense and saps power whilst (with the exception of Buells) drive belts have never really taken off, why that's the case I really dont know, anyone ?.

Just got back yesterday from S Africa courtesy of those nice people at Yamaha Europe who took me out there all expenses paid to blast the around the Cape peninsula on shiney new MT-01 (ho hum such is life eh !!). For those of you who don't know anything about this new model from them here's a link to Yamahas site for it : http://www.mt-01.com/YamahaPhase2/GetSplashPage_en.act?pageName=Home_Welcome&source=banner&bannerName=asq220yamP2uk If there's one thing (probably the only thing come to think of it) I can actually say I do know a fair bit about it's motorbikes. I've had plenty of them (25ish) over the years from a DT50 to a GSXR1000 with plenty of variety (including off road / supermoto / enduro ) inbetween. This bike is pretty much different to all of them though and is SUPERB fun to ride. The sheer amount of grunt, 150Nm at just 3750 !!! (2005 Ducati 999 102Nm) from it's 1675cc engine is just bonkers !!!. Whilst it's not the lightest bike by a long way the chassis is superb and really allows you to chuck it around, great fun on the tight twisty mountain roads we went round, just keep it in 3rd and the thing catapults you out of corners (twins are great at this) and past cars like nothing I've ever ridden before. Got some great pics of it too both from myself and by Yamahas photographer but they're all way too big to post up on here. If any one wants some I'll mail them to them if they like and if anyone wants to know anything about the bike feel free to ask as at the moment I probably know more about it than any dealer as it's not actually launched till February.

Yep me . Went all last winter without one (spring couldn't come fast enough) as I'd just started up in business and money in the company was far more important than heat in the car . Should be getting mine sorted in the next couple of weeks now that I've got a regular income, but in the mean time it's just a case of wraping up warm. Had to drive to Liverpool at 7 in the morning the other week and nearly died of hyperthermea !!!.

GS300 Wheel repair / refurb recomendations please...
womble replied to womble's topic in mkiv Technical
Thanks for the link, can you personally vouch for them ?. -
Got a puncture a couple of days ago which at the time didn't bother me too much as the tyre was pretty much done anyway. What did bother me was when upon further inspection it turned out that the wheel has a small (2mm wide / 2cm deep) crack on the inner rim . Can anyone recomend a decent place that'll repair and also refurb the wheel please .
-
Stock it is then, thanks for the advice / warning.
-
Yeah I have given that some thought but I'm not aware of / can't see any benefits over the standard one, would someone be so kind as outline them to me please:) .
-
That's the bugger . Thanks to both of you for taking the time to read my post & reply. Seeing as you were both so helpfull in the first place I dont suppose there's any harm in asking if either you fancy lending me the £182.19+vat that Toyota want for one do you ?. Go on you know it'd make you feel good . Chris do you have any hints / tips for easier removal ?, bearing in mind my mechanical simplicity !!.
-
The pully on my fan belt tensioner has shed it's outer metal ring upon which the belt normally sits . The belt has worn a groove into the rubber inner upon which it now sits but obviously I'm wanting to replace the pully A.S.A.P. Does anyone know the part no and whether the pully is available alone, eevn better still does anyone have one for sale ?.
-
I think that you'll find that Chris is (Unfortunately:() right in saying they're not available. I searched around pretty thoroughly when mine were needing replacing to no avail, sorry. On the bright side of things whilst not being cheap they are quite nicely made so you do kind of feel like you're getting something for your money !!.

Thanks for the speedy reply and link (even more tempted now ).

Peter that looks really nice, much cleaner than my stock UK Toyota one. Do you know if it will fit with my Uk 94 cruise control and how much was it if you don't mind me asking ?.
-
Get a load of this crazy little piece of kit . http://www.turboxs.com/Dtec/dtec.shtml Pretty neat eh !!.

I'm in Leeds too mate, if it's of any help we can meet up and visually compare the brakes to see if yours are Uk or Jap as I know mine are Uk.
