  1. I had a similar problem and bought a thermostat as well as coolant,got a mechanic to tackle it,the temp reading was all over the place,quickly coming down and creeping back up very close to the red,anyway the mech',flushed the system and put in the new coolant,said I was initially about 1L short,even though the top up tank was showing normal,problem solved without the need to change the thermostat,I'd try just topping up/changing coolant first:)
  2. I remember something like this happening my mate with an Audi,it took a long time to trace,but with my limited knowledge I would hazard a guess at it being the Lambda sensor which is what it turned out to be on my mates car,just a faulty Lambda sensor,it ran like a dog,wouldn't tick over properly,the rev counter needle was just waving at him.
  3. I'm new to this guys but I thought i should just say that the best thing I ever invested in was a hand pump for draining (or in your case Dodgy draining a little) oil,they are dear E106/£72 but worth every penny,I don't sell them or work for the manufacturer by the way
