  1. Wouldn't this "power" mode be the equivalent of turning overdrive off on the MKIV?
  2. Matt, have you tried it with the boost controller turned off. I had a similar effect on my old car when running with a bleed valve (I know they're not the same thing but they still fool the car as to what is really going on).
  3. It had better be, these bloody sportscars are expensive!
  4. I had the same problem when I got my Supra. I was assured by the dealer I bought it from this was normal and that the suspension was stock. When I had had enough of the banging noise in the rear and bottoming out, I ordered a set of coilovers. When it came to taking the stock rears out the left shock was leaking and missing it's bump stop. Now that it's all changed it there are no strange noises as it should be.
  5. Oh ok, thanks for that. I might try this MANU gizmo at some stage. But it all seems a bit too technical.
  6. Do you lift off the throttle in between changing gears manually?
  7. So is marrying your cousin/sister allegedly
  8. Anti Roll Bars or I could be just as stupid as you Matt
  9. But don't forget, these are Americans we are talking about here:rolleyes:
  10. Alex, this may sound silly but inferring from what you say does that mean 1996 and onwards J-Specs do need the cats in to pass an MOT test?
  11. If that's you thing JB, would you not receive gratification more swiftly by simply asking your wife straight out? PS. You could even supply the stick:p

    Coilovers

It was a place in South London called Wheel Power, their number is 020-8699-9591 and speak to Mark.

Thanks for that Nic, as a side note what are your opinions of them? Gavin, It was about £950 including VAT fitting and alignment. Now that everything is on I can only describe the ride as a revalation. It is sooo much smoother. At the moment the car is about 30mm lower than standard and that is about the halfway setting. I'll probably leave it at that for now to see how it copes with all the various speed humps. As for the left rear knocking I've felt since I had the car that was due to the passenger side rear not having a bump stop on and probably as a consequence the shock had started leeking. Not happy as the car was sold as being standard but hey, I guess that's just life. Just glad I changed everything and not just plump for new springs.

My car went in to have some H & R colivers fitted. It's still being done at the moment but I've had to come back in to work so I'll post up thoughts on them later. As I left the fronts had been taken off and we looked at the existing springs. It seems my "standard" springs have RS*R written on them, and he car was sitting about 60mm lower than standard which would explain the mess I've made of the bottom of my car up to now. My question for the meantime is though, has anyone heard of RS*R springs?
  15. Are you sure it's not the charcoal filter we were discussing earlier this week?
  16. So that's what that awful ticking noise is. I've been told about this charcoal filter thingy before but I thought they were taking the piss.
  17. You can get it replaced through your insurance company for about £50 (assuming you are fully comp) and it does not affect your no claims discount. Normally they send someone out pretty sharpish.
  18. This only sems to happen when overdrive is off, I had Matt Harwood follow me and it wouldn't do it. Is there something I can easily check to see what's going on or would it be best to take it back to JIC to see what they say?
  19. Guys, Sorry to resurrect this thread but I now have a video clip of the car doing it's smoke thang on the strip. http://www.puntoabarth.co.uk/movies/dougs_supra_vs_supra.mpg I'm the black one on the left. So, is this normal?

Um Pete, I thought they replace the stock springs and shocks? or is it the arms are under more stress? The price I had for H&R springs was £950 inc VAT and fitting

Adam, Do you know how far the distance from the centre of the wheel to the arches are?

    Coilovers

Ok Guys, I've looked through the archives and cannot find anything definitive so I'll just ask straight out 1) Which coilovers would you recommend and why? 2) Just how much harsher is the ride with coilovers fitted 3) Does anybody know anything about the H & R coilovers for the MkIV Supra? 4) How much lower than stock would the ride height be at the highest setting? Cheers Doug
  23. Matt, I'm in Dulwich, SE London
  24. Thanks for all the help guys, I've not seen anything in my mirrors when flooring it but will keep an eye on everything just in case.
  25. Living in South London there aren't really many areas where you can go all out, I haven't really gone all out till yesterday and there hasn't been anyone behind me to say what's going on. Are there any owners in the vicinity that could help me out?
