Tough love needed. Tell him straight out, in private, and temper it with summat along the lines of the fact that you yourself would appreciate it if it was you in similar circumstances. Depending on your office protocols, you may want to e-mail your intent to the HR / Personnel dept first.

Assuming you put roughly 60 litres in when you fill up (soon after the red light comes on)..... 220 miles = approx 17mpg 250 miles = 19 mpg Not too bad if mainly commuting. Not good if your miles are mainly motorway. Assuming you run the tank nearly dry, and put in say 67 litres in when you fill...... 220 miles = approx 15mpg 250 miles = 17 mpg

I agree totally that an individual should be allowed to choose to end their lives this way. As long as their mental competance at the time of agreement was confirmed. My only concern is that if euthanasia ever became socially acceptable, commercialisation (word?) would muscle in and Soylent Green / Las Vegas style joints would crop up offering cheap and kitsch venues for what should be a dignified and private act.

Commuting I get 18mpg average. Best I've ever had at a steady 70 / 80 on a motorway is 26.

According to my wife (old timer at Liverpool Victoria) third-party fire and theft is the minimum you would be offered. Its still a car whether its moving or not, and subject to possible damage / theft just the same. If it was me, I'd still insure it fully comp, just in case a roof slate blows off and imbeds itself in the roof or similar Final Destination type mishaps.
