quick exhaust question.... I hope

A few aftermarket catback exhausts have one large pipe basically, from the cat to the rear of the car (if I'm right).

Where the Stock exhaust comes down both sides of the car??

So what happens to the left over part that isn't connected to anything?? I've seen some exhausts which do branch off to each side (veilside evolution).

Also, where are the 1st and 2nd decat pipes? Are they on each side of the car, as in where the stock exhaust connects on each side of the car??

Sorry if I sound like a daft tube here... lol. But I'm used to my old Mr2 turbo which is turbo, downpipe, exhaust. Nice and simply!

thanks!!

This is a pic of the stock exhaust, a cat back, after market exhaust, replaces all this lot usually with just a straight through pipe.

This is a pic of the stock cats, they fit between the end of exhaust above and the turbo manifold.
