Max Headroom
Been reading a few threads and a bit of a noobie question, I just wanted to ask does the weight of your alloys effect handling or acceleration or does it effect anything at all. If it does whart would be the best alloys to get?
Rayman
Yeh massively imo, effects acceleration and handling. Obviously upping size and width of the alloy the weight is going to go up inevitably Try sticking to some of the more lightweight wheels like Rays! Branners
depending on how the wheel is made its not necessarily true that a large wheel weighs more. My volk 18s weight less than my stock 17s. The main goal is to reduce unsprung weight as then theres less weight for the suspension to cope with when cornering. However it can all be wrecked if you use the wrong offsets, if the tyre pressures are wrong or if your suspension is too hard. Its a minefield really, which is why racing teams take so much time trying to get it right. JB

Tattooman
Lighter wheels definately make a huge difference in all aspects, Definately rims such as VOLK or RAYS are the way to go if you have got the ££££ to part with.....
jamesmark
Mines are 18's and wiegh a fair bit, i was amazed how light stock 17's were compared to mine,
Stonkin
Pretty sure my Weds are quite light, seem to remember a figure of about 8.5 Kg's, didnt think that was to bad? Who cares, they look the nuts!

The 18" SA-70's are around 8 - 8.5kg if I remember correctly, this was one of the reasons why I chose to fit them on my own car. They are quite a lot lighter than the AVS wheels I replaced which were around 11.5kg each.
