Guest trackday addict
Hi guys - apologies another newbie !! 3/4 trs of the way through my project car I'm after a 6 speed box that will be able to handle serious power (approx 700 - 750 + 150 nitrous). Dont want to go down the quaife, ppg route as bloody expensive & have heard & seen some mixed stories about their reliability/longevity. Spoke to someone today who mentioned a north west american supra 6 speed box - new price approx £5000 ? apparently bullet proof & could handle 1000 easy enough?. Apprently it's virtually the same as the hollinger box? Whats the best 6 speed to go for thats going to be reliable & cheapish to get hold off. Many thanks

Guest Terry S
pretty hard to get hold of mate yeah. People often break MKIV's on here so you may get lucky. All internals are available for the V160 though Toyota now.
Chris Wilson
Any gearbox that's actually RATED to take the sort of torque you are expecting to produce will be very expensive. The Getrag is NOT rated anything like that, but seems to survive fairly well despite this. If you went to Hewland for a suitable box that could DEFINITELY handle that torque you'd be in the 12K region.
