Pig
Nice, not exactly cheap though
JamieP
Its for drag setup by the look of things, Should be stong as hell. Yeah could buy a few secondhand diffs for that money, when i looked into buying a new 6 speed TT diff it was around 3 grand.
Gaz Walker
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of stuff still being developed for the Supra
Chris Wilson
With a Glebe GT6 gearbox you'd have a very durable driveline, pity to waste in the drag strip though I have got them down to 6K for the six speed sequential, you can spec any input shaft and any propshaft flange. Pics to follow, I am picking up an empty case to dummy in the car, before speccing the input shaft I need and ratios et cetera.
JamieP
6k for a bolt in sequential box? any warranty and what bhp/ftlb is it rated to? will it be quiet?
Gaz Walker
any warranty? With you at the wheel? Not a chance mate
Chris Wilson
No warranty, noisy and you need to supply a 5 speed bellhousing to alter (maybe 350 quid `ish to do) , and a propshaft to alter (say about £180 for the propshaft changes). Strictly a race box, you don't want a dog box on the road.
JamieP
Thats me out then:D
Chris Wilson
Out of curiosity, are you looking for a quiet box capable of handling the torque for road usage, or a drag capable box, or is it the price? There are other boxes that may be suited if you specify just what you would want from a gearbox.
JamieP
The no warranty and noisey puts me off most.
Chris Wilson
OK, you won't get a warranty on any race box save for faulty materials. All straight cut boxes are as noisy as hell. Tremec do a six speed H pattern box that handles up to about 600 or 700 ft lbs of torque, with bias cut gears, so they'll be quiet. About $3000, maybe a warranty on it, too. Search Tremec T56, I think that's its designation.
kylestt
The Toyota 6spd Getrag is stronger than a Tremec T56
JamieP
Thats what i thought, was it not a T56 i had in the monaro? plenty of the hsv guys break them.
DARETT
Straight cut sounds cool TBH after a while you get used to it, at 1st it sounds like your in driving in reverse gear! Do PPG not make any 6spd Dog engagements for the Supe?
kylestt
Jamie, yea the T56 is what GM puts in the camaro/vette and other 6spd products. Tremec most likely goes in and makes some stronger parts for them but the Getrag is proven to sustain 1400whp over here in the states and can take the abuse of tons of crap.
