My supe has had its 15th birthday! Its officially a classic car ..

Just rang up adrian flux and told them now my supe is old it qualifies as a classic car now, so I want a lower premium (I wasn't with adrian before ).

Its now come down from £1550 to £639!

Well pleased. Granted I do have 1 more years no claims but well happy with that.

WAT? hang on so now i can insure my sup as a classic car and get ridiculously low premiums? how does that work?

Is that true? As mine's coming up for 16 years old next year (when I renew), and I might try that on the insurance brokers too.

I thought that it was 20+ years before a car is classified as a Classic. If it's only 15 then roll on May

Ive been insuring mine as a classic for the last 2 years and its a '94' model through Sureterm Direct.

Which is probably more than I actually do. I'll have to check. If so, then that could make a big difference.

I think it has to be garaged and lots of little things, that you get away with in a normal premium (but then we're paying for that freedom )

I will have to investigate this, looks like a money saver if it works.

Only use mine on weekends anyway so would be useful for the non-daily drivers if mileage is a factor.

It took some convincing to tell him a supra was a 15 year old classic lol, that was limited to 3500 miles mind as well. I don't drive it at all that much anyway.

I've just had a thought though. My fully protected, full comprehensive insurance is cheaper than the OP's paying now, but I would like to see if there could be an additional saving somewhere

Classic insurance is normally available for u.k cars which are at least 15 yrs old.

So if yours is a u.k model and not an import then theres nothing wrong with that, but if it is an import then you wont be covered and will need to clarify this with the insurance company.

I have been with Adrian Flux for a couple of years now and they have always quoted the best price.

My policy also has restricted mileage and they are aware it is an import and all of the mods have been declared.

I pay just over £400 a year fully comp.

I am with them as well with a fully declared single set up and loads of supporting mods with 577bhp and am £550. I think anything less than £1 per bhp is a bargain.
