supraturbochris
hello people, quick one. I have just got both decat pipes fitted today. I ordered them from whifbitz who seem to know there stuff. I heard though, its dangerous running decat pipes without a boost gauge? i have ordered the boost gauge last week but hasnt turned up yet. Is the car still ok to drive etc?? Oh when i ordered the decats i ordered the restrictor ring with them. cheers
Gaz Walker
As long as you get the restrictor ring it should be OK Its always advisable to fit a boost gauge though. Have you got a FCD as well? Gaz.

Nic
yea got a fcd matey. Which FCD and does it have a raised fuel cut limit? If it does, do you know what it is set to, this should stop you overboosting if it is set to a safe limit.
Paul Whiffin
Hi mate, you should always check your boost levels after mods like this, the restrictor should give you around 1- 1.1 bar approx depending on exhaust and air temps. If there is something wrong somewhere though you may get overboosting which is obviously not good. Get a boost gauge on there to at least check it. Ta I agree, mine with a restrictor was hitting 1.35 in the colder temps, sometimes 1.4 which I would have been oblivious too had I not had a boost gauge, so dont depend on this on its own!! I stuck my 1st cat in to get the boost back down again in the end, but good practice to keep an eye on things
