stingjay
how low can you safely go on 18" wheels before work is needed on the arches . which springs would you suggest are best thanks jay
SupraGirlie
Most springs that I have seen will lower the Supra around the 30-40mm mark, also if your supra is ktted you definatly don't want to go any lower than that on 18"s imo Something like these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320084112227&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=
jamesmark
Lowering you Supra will seriously compromise the handling of it. If you want the car to handle the way it should keep it stock.
stingjay
i know it may effect handling but i hate to see big gaps between tyre and arch my bmw has 18"s with a 60mm drop (scared of heights)
gaz1
tein superstreets will give you adjustable height, best off both worlds:D
Guest mk47
as well as adjustable force dampening too
NeoFuture
could always just get little step like a hummer to get into your soop then your handling will be fine.
bodilx6
Mine's down 40mm and there is no worry with wheels hitting arches. I've had a lot of issues with the custom 3" exhaust hitting speedbumps and driveways though. To fix this I actually needed to weld a second exhaust hook under the center of the car to keep it as close the the car as possible. Still have issues with bumps but its acceptable now. Thats the only real issue you should worry about. Regarding the soop handling its best as stock, really goes down to just choosing quality components (springs + dampers) which actually is made for the car. I really didn't get to have that much of experience with the stock setup, but just remembered it being quite close to my old MKIII as a daily driver. There is no question that you will get a more uncompromising car with lowering and stiffening but it will reward you in being a more "direct" drive. No leaning in corners and so. Handled the Nürburgring perfectly this summer.
Thorin
I wouldn't lower it any more than 20mm, unless of course your car is just for show. You'll also need suspension geometry setting up again.
Inferno
I would say it also has to do with the diameter and sidewall of your tyres.
