girlfriend wrote this as i couldnt be arsed but heres our side of the story.

oh the soarer wasnt ready so bought a cheap rover 620ti :taped: lol

sorry its long but worth a read

Rover was going well, made it to the ferry fine, but overheated due to oil being very low in the que. Topped up oil, filled up water and coolant and got off the ferry fine, got stuck in traffic, which we later find out was french police pulling over the lambo'd 206 and Jaka for speeding!! they got 90Euro fines. Then got about 45mins from Calais and it cut out - possibly deprived of fuel and oil due to the leak and petrol gauge being gay. left in in secluded safe place.

After about 2 hours the blue skyline came back to pick the Irish boys up. The red BMW saw us and came to get us - it wasnt Dukes of Hazard!!

After a n hour of removing there rear wheel spacers to fit us n without scraping we were on our way.

We got to Amsterdam at 12am, got lost looking for the hotel but were finally in and settled after witnessing the most amazing thunder storm with bright blue lightning!!

Up at 8 to leave for the first morning check in, met lots of other modballers and went on our way, driving very steady. Saw furry pulled over and he told us that he bought his licence back - he got pulled by undercover cops...

bout 20 mins later we got pulled (just us) for no reason. checked documents and admired car then sent us on our way.

a further 20 mins after that, (approx 1:15pm) we were with about 9 other modball cars when a copper pulled us into petrol station. we were doing approx 55mph when we caught up with the copper that pulled us and there was no speed limit on the road we were on.

within 2 hours they had pulled all other modballers that had gone past where we were and escorted them back to us, and put up a block to stop us getting out. there was 14 or 15 cars with us in total.

News hit us that they had also pulled 4 others somewhere else. and that they had blocked in the cologne arena.

We were all stuffed.

we had our cars and luggage searched one by one, with everything logged. the police were really nice and liked the cars and thoguht that us being detained was stupid - but they were following there cheifs orders and he was a prick with a smirk on his face with money signs in his eyes.

everyone remained calm, it was lush weather. i spent 50cent to go toilet and still amused by it now - the toilet seat cleaned itself

at around 6pm each car was individually escorted to an impound. we were then driven to police station where we all sunbathed whilst being under arrest. This was just our lot, the cologne police were waiting on our verdict before deciding theres as we were under dusseldorf authority not cologne.

they told us cars were impounded until 17th the last day of rally or RACE as they so annoying kept calling it. everyone was furious but calm. all drivers were ordered to pay 1000Euro fine on top of that.

we had nice coppers in our room (was with 2 other teams in one room) and he said they cant make people pay, he can say he tried and pretend to search us for valuables to te value but he didnt do it lol. he also told us that he thought the whole thing was silly and that we were doing nothing wrong.

the bristish embassy were involved and we were told to see what they said the next day.

just when we thought it was all over and we had to get taxis... word quickly spread that the politicians had been in touch and decided on a 175 Euro fine and cars to be given back, and stickers to be removed and us escorted to ferry.

it didnt happen like that. midnight was the time we had all 14 cars back at police station and stickerless.

by this time 100+ cars in cologne had apparently been escorted to the Netherland border - how true that is im not sure... but they def were not escorted to ferry.

we were not escorted atall from police station - everyone went to do different things.. it was only the german police with problems.

we jumped in the Altezza (is200 import) and followed the 306 (team slowley but surely) and the white integra(team XS) back to calais to go home. we got to the ferry at 6:30am arrived in Dover at around 8:30am and got train home.

It was an amazing time and i really wish it had gone right... The cops said that if we hadnt had stickers on this might not have happened.

a fir few teams are still going round europe and if we had a car we would still be aswell. Rover will be brought home this week

Doesnt look good for a next years event. as the stickers were what made it possible for the organisers- there sponsors paid for lots!!!!

were gonig to try and do a similar thing, minus germany and stickers (other than names ) next year with a load of the people that were at police station and hopefully more. something unofficial and that cant be linked to anything.

ive bored you enough

Sara xxxx

PS thankyou to /everybody that helped in anyway before and during the event from both Alan and I

heres a few videos from german news paper person

Doesn't sound like my idea of fun but glad you enjoyed it and got back safe. I imagine any rally of this sort will get clamped down on for the forseeable after Gumball. Can't imagine many Ferrari/Porsche drivers getting the same sort of treatment legging it down to LeMans this weekend.
