Simple (I hope!) Foglight conversion question

OK, tomorrow my car's booked in the garage for a few bits and bobs.

I've asked to get the foglight conversion done into the rear lights (pre-facelift)

What I want to know is, is all the work done outside the light unit? (All in the wiring? etc)

It's just that I want to get them painted & clear lenses on the indicators, which will mean swapping my lights for a set that's already done.

So - once this conversion is done, can any set of lights be swapped with mine & still work, without any swapping of bits?

Can someone explain in 'village idiot' terminology?! I'd be most grateful.

You beauty! I didn't want to waste my money getting it done, if it wasn't going to work with my new lights (when I get them!)

One other question - I suppose I'll need to swap one of the bulbs though....(?)

no.. because it turns the outer set of brake lights into fogs when turned on

I think that's what they were talking about? Does that mean putting a red lense where one of the clear lenses is then? So when you're reversing only one light comes on?

you dont need a red lense just a red bulb... changing one of the reverse lights is proberly the easier option.. as long as u dont go for one of those silly stick on on to the bottom of the bumper type ones, they look naff

One of my reverse lights is converted into a Fog light. So i have one reversing light. and all 4 lights all time

got it done a few weeks ago...still have all my brake lights except when the fog switch is on...much better than a red blob in the reverse light... imo

50 quid! The parts cost less than a fiver from Maplin. It's a couple of hours work though if you take your time (and you connect into the brake wire BEFORE it splits to both lights, and don't have to do it again - doh!!)

I think you're right about the red blob in the reserve light, I'd much prefer them to be incorporated into the brake lights, especially as I hardly ever have the fog lights on anyway!

Hmmm, I'm pretty sure they quoted £85 when I spoke yesterday!! I could never do electrics and stuff so I might have to go ahead with it.

I currently have the foglight in one of my reverse lights and im not happy with it. It looks odd with the red bulb and people keep telling me one of my reverse lights doesnt work!

I got charged £80 to do the mod to get through the m.o.t. i dont know how it got through its first one before i owned the car as there wasnt a foglight anywhere?!

I've bought another set of rear lights just for the clear lenses to replace my orange indicators and while im at it will get the fogs wired into the brake or driving lamps as in the pictures, looks much better!

The garage now has my car doing a few bits, but I told them not to bother with the fog light, as I spoke to my brother & he seems to think he'll be able to do it no problem. (famous last words!)

Yeah - they're the ones.

The diagram means nothing to me, but my brother did an electrician apprenticeship. I know they're not the same as autoelectrician, but pretty sure he'll know what he's doing.

I thought putting the fog in the reversing light was not good enough as fog lights are supposed to have red back grounds?? For those of who who have done this and have a red bulbs you can get LED clear bulbs that appear clear but light up red!! getting rid of the horrible red reversing light!! Look here

Except Supra lights face up and not out so those LED bulbs would not pass the MOT.
