Dexron II is the 'standard' fluid for nearly ALL power steering and

Auto' Transmissions.(it's the stuff 'WE'/all car spares shops

stock on the shelf)

Some Citroens and I believe Jags (and poss' some more) have

a weird P'S' fluid.

AND OF COURSE, our Soop ATF has been 'UPPED' from II or III to

the now recommended IV.

OK, I am a bit confused now I have just been to Halfrauds and in the book there it recomends Dexron III fluid for the Supra 93>.

Should I or should I not put this in my power steering Resevoir?

All it says on the the P/S cap is Dexron it does not say either ii or iii and I can not find any reference to it in the owners manual!

Thanks

Kevin

I would think Dexron III is an upgraded version of II

(although TYPE IV isn't - or so they say ?)

It's rather like DOT3 Brake/clutch fluid, then DOT4, now DOT5

they are each newer/more heat resistant blah blah blah.

When the Supra came out in '93 I don't think Dexron III even

existed (?) I'm pretty sure DOT5 didn't (or, wasn't widely available)

I think TYPE IV is crucial for the auto' box 'cos of some seal problem (?)

But, I don't think Dexron II is gonna' hurt the P'S' system..

???????????:conf:
