hiten55
where can i get one? looked hi and low but can i find one? can i feck! since the dumb asses at sony decided to only produce 40gb ones with no backward compatibility and no card slots the 60gb model has been discontinued. i've tried everywhere (dabs, game, pla.com, scan, tottenham court road etc) but cant find any. someone help. RedM
I reckon you'll need to traipse around some stores as they are impossible to find online. Toys R Us is a good bet. They react really slowly to changes in price and spec in-store. Failing that try any independent electrical retailers or small independent game shops. charlton
since the dumb asses at sony decided to only produce 40gb ones with no backward compatibility and no card slots the 60gb model has been discontinued. Why was the 60GB discontinued? I also heard something about an 80GB slim one instead - anyone else heard of this?

charlton
Yeah - the 80GB is replacing the 60GB one. I cant seem to find much info about it, is the spec the same as the 60GB but with a larger hard disk?
Snooze
Pretty much. The only other difference is that they've removed the emotion chip, which is required for hardware emulation of the PS2, which means the new 80 gig one won't be able to play all PS2 games. charlton
Pretty much. The only other difference is that they've removed the emotion chip, which is required for hardware emulation of the PS2, which means the new 80 gig one won't be able to play all PS2 games. Thats stupid, not that I will end up playing PS2 games on there. I dont play any PSone games on the PS2. Still the size of the hard drive doesn't matter because you can swap it - or at least I will
hiten55
apparently the 80gb may be coming out in April, but if it doesn't havw the chip i may as well not wait. but then again ive also heard sony aren't planing to release the 80gb in Europe so we're stuck with the 40gb
