R Black
Love vegas, hotels are good value there with big rooms, i can recommend the Rio, which is good & only a block away from the strip, u gotta try the buffet their too its ace. There are free buses 2 all the top hotels. You can go to the other end of the strip where it all started, for cheap gambling, i preferred the main strip though. While there take in the hoover dam & definately the grand canyon by helicopter as its awesome

Ark
All the main hotels are good (apart from Circus Circus - very trailer trash) but you've GOT to stay on the strip. Rio _is_ good, but there's nothing like watching the strip-life from your bedroom window. Can personally recommend the Venetian (if you've got a few quid to spend) or the Luxor. The Riviera is also good. The buffets tend to be slightly disappointing, as do the $1 foot-long hotdogs. If you can get out of bed early enough, drive to Death Valley to see the dawn - awesome. Take loads of water. Also take a chopper to the Grand Canyon. Take in some shows too - Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world - singing/dancing, magic, comedy, topless cabaret (don't get this confused with a seedy strip club...it's classy I tell you). Edit: word from the wise: you can have an awesome time in Vegas no matter what your budget, but if you expect to gamble, set aside a pot of gambling money that you treat as money already spend. Don't pretend it's an investment, and never under any circumstances top that pot up when you think you're near the end of your losing streak! R Black
Hooters is a popular looksee but its crap, MGM, Belagio are cool there is a good nightclub ontop of the Rio, shows everywhere. If you can go at anytime i would make your trip coincide with the SEEMA(yes i know its not relu like that)car show. Hire a car n travel out to see the sights. Muffleman
I loved Vegas. First morning I came down to the lobby, turned a corner to be met by three scantily clad chorus girls but on stilts !!! I'd say I didn't know where to look but that's a complete lie and I managed very well Awesome place, definitely recommended and Ark is spot on. scooby_doo_do
I went in march for a stag do i organised... Awsome place. Booked up Via expedia - Direct flights with virgin and staying at the imperial for 5 nights came to £502 - Smack bang in the middle of the strip as well. I arranged a party bus to pick us up at the airport with champagne and give us a tour of the strip - awsome start to the vegas experience - with drop off at hotel. We booked up to go for a meal in the Voodoo lounge in the Rio. Highest place overlooking the strip - so that was a good start, we then went to Pure nightclub - Highly recomended. We booked up out heli ride over the canyon in advance for about £160 each - only 4 hours with a flight down the strip to finish, so no waiting for buses/planes/boats etc - details here: http://www.alllasvegastours.com/body.asp?tour=LAS-H0026&page=TourDetails The other thing we did which was quite good fun, was the shooting range just off the strip, you get to fire a host of guns etc and get to keep a t-shirt that you can riddle with an uzi. If there is a group of you, don't bother with cabs, just hire a stretched hummer - as they are so cheap if there's a crowd of you. All my pics can be found here: http://www.tripkings.co.uk/vegas/ to give you an idea :-) any questions or info that i can help with, let me know :-), i'm back again in september, then the following march for my stag :-) Craig. Ark
HAHAHA! You gamble as much or as little as you like - there is everything from 5 cent slots to $200 per hand blackjack tables (and higher if they let you in the high-rollers area), and the croupiers are generally gentle with noobs to get them going (and spending). Just don't take too much advantage of the free booze they give you when you're playing - it makes you make poor choices. I think in 5 days I get through about $20 gambling - there's too much else to do!!
R Black
I got quite a liking for roulette last time i was there ended up even, they teach you how to play there anyway, the free booze & passing tot is a pleasant bonus, but there is lots me other things to do. scooby_doo_do
yeah - the slots are not like our ones.. in fact they are damn confusing. Best tables to go on are the roulette and card tables, if your not sure how to play then just ask the dealer as they give you full instructions and help you along. I didn't have a clue what i was doing when i first went, but after about 2 hours you really get into the atmosphere of it all. And as said, if your on the tables, all your drinks and cigs are free and they occasioannally give you food. One word of advice though, don't play on the cash games of poker - if you want to play that just enter a $20, $50 tourn otherwise the sharks will take all your money! The first night we got there this year, there was 10 of us playing roullette for 17 hours :-), no clocks and lots of oxygen in the place so you don't feel tired. Had 4 hours sleep and back out again.... You can spend as little or as much as you like. I only took £600 so about $1200, and i had about $100 left on the last day. The excursions we paid for before we left. I split my money up into days and that was my gambling money. If i won, i'd put the wining's in another pocket and cash it in at the end of the day/night, if i lost then i wouldn't spend anymore. Hope that helps :-)

Conrad
I've been three times to Vegas now and I'm going back again in May. I've done it on all budgets too so know what's good value. I've stayed at The Mandalay Bay and The Venetian (Both 5* - very expensive). I also stopped off in Vegas in June when finishing a 4 month backpacking trip in South America to take in the Hatton Vs Castillo fight. That time however I stayed in a Hostel at the end of the strip by The Stratosphere - $20 a night there! (Sin City Hostel) This May though I'm staying at the 3* Excalibur. Whilst the more expensive hotels are superb even the likes of the Excalibur piss on anything we have here in the UK. So I wouldn't bother splashing out on the top hotels. As for Vegas itself it's an awesome place. The Hoover Dam was cool but Grand Canyon over-rated. Hookers and Strip bars are silly expensive - so i've been told. So if you're going for that reason then head for Thailand instead. A good tip is that so long as you have money in a slot machine then all drinks are free - same in every Casino.
