martynb Posted December 30, 2004 Share Posted December 30, 2004 Interestingly though they do work by capturing number plates and seeing how long it takes before a match appears further up the road. I believe they have to simply discard the data at the moment under the Data Protection Act, but every so often there is a suggestion that Lord High Emperor Tony can see it is only a short step into co-opting these as another revenue generator. michael Posted December 30, 2004 Share Posted December 30, 2004 I read something a while back, they are only supposed to take partial numberplate info and instantly convert it into some kind of code so that the data can't be used to track your specific movements, just those of an 'object' - of course if they can convert it one way they can convert it back.....
