There's absolutely no way in hell the suspension is stock if its squeezed the 4x4 running gear in.........

I think thats well class - and I hate the blue oval with a passion. Looks stock, and looks in superb condition :D

OK maybe I should have said ride height then lol. The chassis has no overt strengthening and is a well old design (anyone see topgear last weekend when they raced the rally spec escort against a focus will see where I am coming from here). Agreed its a minter allright but with that particular setup you would have to be particularly disciplined with the power to prevent going too fast to be able to slow down. Only thing I can compare it to is the mini's I used to see that were bored out to 1400 without bothering to change the brakes to discs, accident waiting to happen.

Agreed, I think you are going to have to be conservative with putting the power down! That chassis isn't too bad though, back from the old XR3 days which didn't handle too bad. I think its hard to tell the ride height from the pics, its sure not slammed but could be lowered a little.

As for the brakes, I'm sure you'd be able to get some decent stoppers in there I think, possibly an upgrade to the XR3 brakes with decent disks/pads/hoses/fluid etc would probably do the job on road as I doubt its built as a track car..... The one thing I would think is whatever brakes they are, they'll get a bit of heat in them with steelies fitted as not so much air would get to them..........

I do find people that do these things a bit mad, but it is quite funny, better than chav-ing up some shitheap :D

Also be on the look out for an old shape (eg 1995) Renault Clio 1.2RN. Looks completely stock, but its running a 172 engine  :D:D:D:D
