Petrol smell.

I've often had a slight smell of fuel coming from the car after filling right up (yep, the cap IS put on properly), but recently the smell is becoming more frequent, even with only a half full tank. I get a strong whiff of it on cornering and generally in higher revs. The smell is from outside the car (windows open - I'm in Spain) and there's no apparent leak in either engine bay or from underneath when stationary. I'm no mechanic, could it be fuel pump gasket or a bloody hole in my tank?

Any thoughts/ideas welcome.

My Integrale had this when a couple of plastic pipes on the petrol tank failed and the petrol would overflow slightly and slosh out when going round roundabouts. Don't know if the Supra has any of these connector pipes which could fail in the same manner?

Thanks guys for the replies. I forgot to say the car is a N/A, and the exhaust system looks stock. The cracked cat sounds interesting, and expensive, so hope its just some wonky bit of tubing somewhere.

i had a bmw that did exactly what yours is doing, all it turned out to be was the top pipe to the fuel tank had corroded so it spilt out 1) when i filled it, 2) roundabouts

hopefully thats all it will be cos it only cost £4.50 for the bit of pipe:D
