Snooze
Sky+ box lets you record stuff. I hate to agree with the marketing spiel, but our Sky+ box really did "change the way we watch television". I don't notice what time programmes are on any more. I don't even notice what channel they're on - I just pick them out of the lists on the EPG and they appear on the HD drive a few days later. It means we're nearly always watching programmes a day or two after they were broadcast, but it means that whenever we sit down to watch TV there is ALWAYS something we really want to watch on ('cos we recorded it!).... edge
I'd be lost without mine now. Series links so you never forget an episode. Pause while you pee function so the adverts then go or get shorter.
Rob
I was wathcing some programme on BBC4 about the future of TV and it was all about HD recorders, how advertisers will need to change their methods to accommodate the change in viewing styles and how society could change as people no longer all watch the same thing at once, like a big social event. I noticed it in my last workplace as we couldn't discuss Spooks the following morning as a few prople HD'd it and hadn't watched it yet.
JustGav
You can skip the adverts...pre-record and watch it an hour later... Worth it for that function alone.

Very easily actually... Couple of screws, change the drive, really easy. (Just need to get a supported drive)

OR say you're recording an hour long program. Record it then start watching it about fifteen minutes later. Skip through the breaks and it will finish at roughly the same time as the original program, ideal if you still want to get to bed at the same time. (Just need to get a supported drive) I'm sure the mechanics are dead easy, but which drives are supported, and do they need to be pre formatted in order to work with the system though?
