paulrenn
OK guys I want to know what is the maximum safe performance I can push the car to using stock turbos and fuel system. The car is using 550's and US (=UK I think) spec turbos. What is the maximum boost pressure that the ECU is programmed to support, if you use a boost controller to adjust the wastegate opening? ie, where does the fuelling map end, and fuel cut begin... I understand that the US/UK spec MAF works too 18psi/1.2bar approx. 18psi is a reasonable amount of boost for a BPU car.
Syed Shah
To answer your other question, fuel-cut is approx 15psi, so to run 18psi, you will need a FCD, there cost about 100quid, and I think Pete Betts sells them.
Terminator
Get you FCD from TRL Performance about £60 + post.
THOR Racing
Max recommended boost on stock system is 18psi (but maybe reduce this is really hot weather or get water injection or intercooler fitted) To get to 18psi you'll need some form of boost controller, manual or electronic and a fuel cut controller to get past the ECU safety mechanism at 15psi. For fuel cuts see TRL VFCC Regards Pete
paulrenn
Hi Pete Thanks for the reply. I'm definitely interested in the VFCC. From your experience, have you noticed differences in the ECU pinouts between the various MKIV models? Mine is a '97 and US spec, but the connectors are probably the same. Maybe time to hunt on mkiv.com for any wiring diagrams...
THOR Racing
I've got ECU pinouts of most variants of cars anyway. Bu they are generally the same for import, export markets. Colours may differ but pinouts stay the same. They also change on a year basis. Is the 97 a facelift model? Pete
