New problem with starter/ignition?

Hi all.

When I first bought my Supra a little over a year ago I started having trouble starting the car. I would get the one click problem. Luckily, I found the thread on this forum that showed how to rebuild the starter (replacing all metal contacts).

I did that in September '06 and, until now, had absolutely zero problems. The car started the first time every time.

Just this week I started having the same problem again. One click and no start. I can try for several minutes getting the same result and then, suddenly it would start again. I had my battery checked today and it showed it at 100%, and proper voltage coming from the alternator, so I don't think that's a problem.

Is it possible that the metal connections are already going bad again? Maybe I didn't properly tighten the bolts on the starter and some condensation got in? Or should I be looking at the wiring? I read another post that commented on a starter relay problem - where is the starter relay located? Or is the starter relay the part with the contacts that I fixed? Alternately, could this have anything to do with the ignition?

Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Not much help, but I would be very surprised that something was wrong with the motor contacts already, unless they were fitted incorrectly / not tight enough.

I'm not aware of any other problems with the starter motor.

Someone more knowledgeable will be along soon....

Anyone got any other ideas? I plan on checking over all the connections this weekend. Check the power coming from the switch and from the battery. If I have to I'll pull the starter out again but I'm really not looking forward to that :(

Another thing to add: it doesn't matter if I use the keys or push the remote start button on the remote, I get the same result.

I tested the 2 wires connecting to the starter today. The thick wire that goes to the battery had a constant 12 volts going to it.

The smaller wire has 12 volts when the key is turned as well.

Any other thoughts?
