Guest cooljam
Hi Everyone Just wanted to ask everyone their opinions on the best decat kit and where to buy. I need 1st and 2nd pipes with restrictor. Is the envy performance kit? KKS? Blitz? Whifbits? Some seem to be 2.5 inch (whifbits) and some 3 inch (Envy)? Help! Steve
They are much the same mate. I personally used the 2.5" Chris Wilson decats and restrictor ring.
flukey-lukey
I have the 2.5" Whifbitz decats and am happy
kieren1234
I have a 2.5" (not sure on make) and am happy with it, they are just a piece of hollow piping so they are all practically the same.

Cadburys Purple
I would have thought that the 3" would have been better for the TT (less restrictive) and the 2.5" would be better for the N/A (back pressure)
hoff
I have a 2.5 inch 2nd decat pipe. Works good for me:)

Can't see the point of going 3" if your'e going to squeeze all the exhaust gasses through a restrictor anyway ! I'm looking for de-cat pipes as well so am interested in the answers. magictorch
I have the Envy 3' Decat pipes Only reason i went for the Envy decat is that my exhaust is 3' so i thought it would mate up well!!? Very well made and do the job but im not technical at all;) Jamie
Guest mugg
Why bother removing your first cat ..( pre Cat ) then place a RR in ???? For all the trouble just leave the stock pre cat and fit a EBC and a good 3'' mandrel mid pipe to cat back ......Without MBC/EBC you may have around 13 psi ..then wind up the boost with either MBC /EBC its too easy.........Just ....2c
hoff
Go for a 3 inch if TT or 2.5 if NA. Chris Wilson, trader on here, does very good decat pipes.

I'm also lead to believe that EGTs will be higher if you leave a cat in and up the boost. When I looked at the inside of a cat it made me wonder how anything gets through it at all. I retained my Pre cat and deleted my second with a custom mandrel 3'' midpipe and Blitz Nur cat back and boosted 13/14 psi straight up .............I don;t know about how the EGT'S were affected but it flowed really well for what it was .........I thought . I ran my twins @ 18psi all day ....I know it's different for all MKIV (JDM'S ) But i found that the twins just wouldn't die ..they are alot tougher than they get credit for ...... Guest mugg
It removes a source of exothermic reaction form the engine bay, for one thing. Whoa !!! Ok no exothermic Reactions ...( heat source ) Wanted . Fair enough ........You DA man Chris .....Hahahah!! No disrespect you are obviously a very clever Tech . In all my years of motoring i have never see an engine that gives off or creates so much heat as the 2jzgte ........Just in passing ....Not being a Smart ass.....Seriously.....Maybe i need to do more motoring. Gerry
It removes a source of exothermic reaction form the engine bay, for one thing. Hi Chris... So is there an advantage to having 3" de-cat pipes over 2.5" if you are putting in a restrictor ring anyway ? Cheers G
Chris Wilson
IMO none at all, and 3 inch pipes compromise ground clearance, most of the ones i see are flattened to 2.5 or less anyway But if you like big pipes....
