ECK
hi all well i wright this in pain:rolleyes: well there i was on friday lunchtime installing the new macco serio at gartnavel royal hospital (the new building) ,i and the director of finance are disscusing the fine details of the install and where the new machine was to go (all fine up till now) so i finally get underway and start to unpack the machine, i got everything out it's boxes and ready to go, i turn to the director to ask for a hand to lift the machine onto the counter he says ok we lift the machine onto the counter top all seems well at this moment, i slide the machine into place , then i feel this pop'ing sensation right between my shoulder blades then another sensation of hot water running down my back ( i knew i was in trouble) i fell to my knees in pain!!! the director (john) asks if im ok! i dont want to look a fool so i reply "yes just a twitch im ok" so anyway i continue regardless and finish the install in pain once i got back in the van and try to sit down i was in bother i had to drive 50 miles like this to get home (agony) so im home by this time and serching the house for painkillers to only find parasetamol so i take two and settle down on the sofa trying not to agravate my back anymore in the morning i wake up and am unable to move my lower half due to the pain (queue the wee boy useing the bed as a trampoline) once i finally got out of bed and was able to move enough it was streight to casualty for me lucky for me it was quiet down there so i got look'd at pretty much streight away the nurse took a look at my back and was moving my legs around and repeatedly saying "thats not good" im worried now i get taken for x-ray's and was told i had broken the left 4th vertibrae and rib!! (sorry spelling) at this point im thinking SHIT!!!! so im in bloody agony and am unable to do anything, i cannot work, i cant even wash the bloody car!!! the pain killers are on another level every time i take them i feel like im flying there bloomin strong but at least there doing the job so i thought id post up my story for you all to have a giggle at. i was looking forward to crail today and poss getting a passenger ride in keith's single but that's out the question now so the doctors recon im going to be out of action for at least 5 weeks , im not looking forward to telling the boss atall but the more i think about it the more i realise it could have been alot worse so im thankfull for that atleast there is one good point mind, the G/F is running around looking after me:eyebrows: thanks for listening!! the cripple!!!(alex)

Thinking about it still makes me feel sick! Just try and get use to people doing stuff for you and try and be patience buddy (a thing that I found really difficult) as with mine I went back to work to early and my shoulder was made worst All the best matey and I hope your feeling better soon! ivan
Bad news Alex. Don't rush back into thinking you're fit enough to do anything heavy. You'll do more damage and be in pain forever.
