JustGav
Go back to basics... Check the injectors to see if they are getting voltage... Then check the spark plugs to see if you are getting spark... Although double check your alarm is DEFINITELY disabled first...
flukey-lukey
I had this and it turned out to be the fuel pump ecu. Not saying that this is YOUR problem but worth a check. Fuel pump ecu/relay thing is in the passanger side rear quarter panel. Access it from the boot
Marty
Any petrol in it? In all seriousness, petrol goes off after a while you know. Either that or maybe there is a boost hose off somewhere?
RobEvans
*checked all the hoses *put £10 of fuel in *checked the fuel pump works... petrol everywhere haha *on with removing the spark plugs to see if i have a spark Does anyone know what size socket i need to remove them? as for the alarm I'll have a read though the manual. Anyone know what the next step would be if there is no spark?
JustGav
If you have spark, next step would be check you are getting fuel past the injectors.... But, if it is turning over and not firing, it should in theory be filling up the bores with fuel, which you should be able to smell (/see when you pull a plug)
Sharpie
Have you checked the battery output ? Might not be enough voltage to turn it over if it's been drained for 2 months with alarm, door lights etc..

Might not be enough voltage to turn it over if it's been drained for 2 months with alarm, door lights etc.. What a bloody valid point, didn't even think of the simplest solution... this is a very good point, since the ECU may struggle to initialize or the alarm may fail to latch the relays.. RobEvans
Ok so leave the bat on charge for a day or so? It does turn over really strong though, also the bat was diss-connected most of the time
Chris Wilson
Leaving it for weeks with an "intelligent" charger is fine, but no more than a couple of days with anything really old that just pumps current into it ad lib. Take the plugs out, if they are wet with fuel or oil RENEW them. Has this car ever run with this turbo kit fitted? Can't you just tow it if the worst comes to the worst? RobEvans
no its only just been fitted, but started up fine every time when BPU 2 month ago. I only want to start it to drive it 10 mile. I fitted the kit myself, is there anything i could have knocked or unplugged that i can check? I'll remove plugs tomorrow. are they 17mm? PS its automatic so dont want to tow it anymore than i have
Chris Wilson
If I was feeling bold and wanted to take a punt on what you have left unplugged I'd say the crank position sensor, down by where the front turbo was. No way will it even try to start with that Johnny unplugged. CPS is up above front of alternator, near the cam belt tensioner, follow the wire back , it clips up onto the engine block then runs forward. You can see the unclipped wire in the pic below http://www.gatesgarth.com/cps.jpg
Chris Wilson
10 miles at under 50 MPH is no issue at all, although no PAS or servo will make you keep speed down and Weetabix intake up
RobEvans
Hmmmm i'll double check, i know theres 3 plugs in a bunch that had no where to go, then another running behind the manifold that i couldnt find a home for, does this sound right? I cant recall that johnny in the pic though... Does that CPS plug apear to plug into the alternator? if so its in

I cant recall that johnny in the pic though... Does that CPS plug apear to plug into the alternator? if so its in It sounds like you left the CPS unplugged, it goes into one of the sockets on the front of the front turbo, and at a casual glance most people assume it's for one of the VSV's or something. It doesn't (and won't) plug into the alternator. I can't recall if it's clipped to the drivers side chassis rail, like the O2 sensor lead, or not. It'll only go into the matching socket, so furtle about and you should suss it out.
