robin
I don’t know if anyone remembers my "I've been made redundant" thread but I am pleased to announce I have a new job I start on the 15th and its ALOT more money then I was on, the only downside is my commute has grown from 1 mile to 24. I am going to be looking for a oil burner to get me there and back. So far I think something like an Audi a4 tdi could be a good choice. Any other ideas or suggestions? robin
I'm not planning on spending a fortune and would ideally like some change out of 2k which is why I was looking at the older audi a4.

edge
I just brought a 99 toyota avensis estate 2.0 td. Its done 155,000 miles and runs like a new car and everything works. They are rare in estate form and even td form but very reliable and in budget and returns about 45 - 50 mpg. No performance machine but it will last another 100k and wont cost a fortune keeping it tip top.
robin
Just got a quote for a 1995 golf diesel, they want 680 quid third party which to me seems stupidly high when I am only paying 913 for the supra fully comp.

colsoop
For such a small commute i would be tempted by something small and shopping cart like Cheap tax and insurance then and still returns 50 mpg I have a fiat seicento which costs £420 a year (no ncb) and does 50 mpg. it also happily does 100 leptons (alright not happily )

robin
After having a rental fiat with 27k on the clock and its gearbox seazing I am reluctant to buy one. You do get alot of car for your money though.
robin
Just bought a 02 focus TDCi Ghia for 3k with 50,000 miles on it. Should get me to work and back for ahwile and save me from putting about 20k on the supra a year.
miko_supra
i have a peugoet 306 1.9 Turbo diesel. Its a good all round car, excellent at 40mph+ and useless before that... very boring mind. But i get around 55 mpg and the insurance is cheap too. im paying £300 FC and im 21. The only downer is the tax is just as high as the supra's. I think your best bet would be the audi, its cheap, reliable and looks good for its age
